Nothing that I've heard, and I'm usually on one of the most active McIntosh forums. Dealer isn't letting on either.

McIntosh MX121. McIntosh MC205. Focal Aria 948 Main Speakers, Aria CC900 Center. Focal Electra IC 1002 In-Ceiling Surrounds. Paradigm Studio Sub 15. Oppo BDP-105D. Roku XS. Roku 3. Apple TV(3). "Silenzio" EA-2 Media Server (pc-based). DirecTV. Panasonic TC-P65VT50. Samsung UN40FH6030F, URC MX-780.

Seems very quiet on the news front eh. In the mean time I'm about to move residences and set up a new dedicated HT, so I'm lining up a Marantz 8802 so I can do ATMOS and DTS:X, plus finally pass 4K from my HTPC.

Just curious, how many are considering the Marantz 8802?

If you are, do you plan to keep your MX151 till they upgrade it?

And lastly, does anyone know if McIntosh has a trade in program?

I will likely try and compare, but I won't sell the 151 right away - I need to be convinced the 8802 is equal or better sonically. I doubt I will do anything until they are building the units with HDCP 2.2 factory installed.

I'm jumping on the 8802 bandwagon. My buy in cost for my used MX-150 was so cheap last year, I won't lose anything on the swap out. I'm sure McIntosh will eventually do something, but I have to say I'm not as optimistic about the what and when as I would have been if they were still part of D&M Holdings. Worst case for me is the 8802 can be a interim update until McIntosh or someone else come out with a unit that's worth moving to.

I was told by a dealer today that the MX 151 will be replaced with the MX 160. It will have Atmos, HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. The MX 121 will also be replaced.

Thanks - if you happen to speak with you dealer further, I'd interested what they are doing on the room correction side, and how many channels/multiple subs it will support, if he knows.

I would also my imagine DTS:X, since McIntosh was listed as a supporting manufacturer...

Not buying it. Atmos and HDCP 2.2 are just starting to hit the market place. Mcintosh only being a couple of months behind the mainstream consumer brands like Marantz is highly unlikely. Your dealer is pulling your leg or is misinformed, IMO.

I might believe an MX121 replacement sooner rather than later assuming McIntosh still plans to leverage tech from Marantz. The MX151 is a different animal and a unique design.

Quite plausible...I hope that at least with the 160 they commit to finally discarding most legacy connectors...we don't need component, composite, or analog inputs or outputs - maybe one set of composite av outputs just as a backdoor to troubleshoot any HDMI issue.

^^ Yeah I can't see holding out on my move to 8802 based on a single dealer rumor. I may check with my own A/V suppliers, they seem to have their fingers on the pulse.

I'll tell you oz, I've spent some time really figuring out optimal calibration and tweaks with the 151, and workarounds for some firmware issues, that's it's just sounding awesome right now, especially with the new Parasounds. I'm hoping Mcintosh can fix a few thing I've passed to them, but still waiting to hear back.

I'll try to put together some guidelines and post here next week to see if it helps some get optimal performance.

It's sounding so good I'm less compelled to try the 8802 despite my itch to try something new to compare. Of course, I'm not looking to move past 7 channel right now, and I think you are, so your need/urge may be different.

What would re-pique my interst is if Atmos and DTS:X are the new decoders for legacy TrueHD and DTSMAHD as well, and if so, do the new decoders create an improved surround bubble even for 7 channels, either through better placement, steering, etc.

I'd def be with you there thrang if it wasn't for me setting up this whole new room with ATMOS. I figure it's also a good time to leverage my very well purchased MX-150 into an 8802 and if need be leverage that into say the next gen Mc product when the time comes. I reckon my MX-150 is def sounding sweet as at too currently. Unfort its a bit lonely at the in my old HT as I'm not living there much at the moment. On the bright side I'm at my other place that has the mini Steinway setup and VW600 from tonight through to Thurs... hmmm me thinks time to put that full BR copy of Interstellar on that I previewed last week and rock the mediaroom !

I had high hopes but mixed feelings about Interstellar, but am looking forward to the blu Ray. Ending was outstanding I thought.

Yeah I had grand plans to catch it at IMAX which never eventuated. Just hoping Nolan's penchant for mixed ratios doesn't spoil the home experience too much on scope screens. At least the soundtrack fits the bill.

Funny, I'm waiting to see the Blu-ray and hoping for an improved sound track. I saw it at the Henry Ford Imax in 70mm film and the sound was absolutely horrible with much of the dialogue muffled and near unintelligible.

What I was told by a dealer is what a McIntosh rep said to the dealer. The rep was caution on exactly when the products will be for sale.
