Nothing official. I'd imagine $30K-ish, but that's just a guess.

£12k is likely for the altitude 8/8 without auro and Atmos encoding.

£30k for 32/32 all codecs included.

A lot can change tho between now and September.

I completely agree....pending what's in the Altitude.

My $0.02, as a marketer professionally: If Trinnov is looking to expand the target market for this product to a potentially high-end, but to date unserved home audio audience, a more modular approach, with a basic product + add-ons will only help grow that market.

After all, a PC-core based unit, with a relatively "user-friendly" interface and HDMI connections for, say, people not used to Vanity Board mods and pro audio connectors to connect components to a Trinnov box, is a game-changer for the industry. Technically speaking, the more fully featured and easy to update by the user the pre/amp is, the more obsolete that the Altitude will make mainstream AVR manufacturers, and the more that the high barrier to entry will be superceded by the unique value that the Altitude represents. I hope that £12 to £30K guesstimate is remotely accurate, IOW.

Can we pre-order yet? Curt?

I love the idea of modularity - expand as time/money permits...I don't need 32 channels (yet) but may in the future.

Concerned somewhat about it launching with HDMI 1.4a when HDMI 2 is here for 4k...that's my only stumbling block at the moment.

This is a momentum data systems HDMI Board their 1.3 was field replaceable w 1.4 in datasat and krell, trinnov should strive to provide that flexibility to 2.0 since high frame rates in 4k are needed.

My advice to Trinnov based on the 3d rollout experience which is less taxing than hfr, 4k60, and 3d 4k, is not to be the first to update the hdmi board because MDS is a small company. They will get backlogged with 1st field deployment debugging let someone else debug the edid idiosyncrasies across sony, runco, barco, doremi, Christie, oppo , directv, xfinity, netflix stb's,etc etc until the mds hdmi 2.0 board is stable. say 6 to 9 months.

Also this is Trinnovs first HDMI rodeo so it is prudent to use a highly stable hdmi platform. Next year they could offer upgrade.

Probably Trinnov should offer some upgrade program for the MC customers. I understand that Curt is considering something similar but what about the customers around the world. I am extremely happy not only with the Trinnov products but also with their excellent support. Great company! Highly recommended.

Am I the only one bothered by the "M.C. Escher collision" between the (MF) Center speaker and the Top Front Left (?) speaker on the 'speaker configuration screen graphic' for this machine . . . that I can't afford anyway?!

Just finished my CEDIA registration (I'm doing the three part Toole class on HT Audio/Acoustics as well as the 3D Audio panel from Dolby on Friday afternoon); hopefully they'll be having a room available throughout the Expo . Lots to see/learn regardless.

Looking forward to this product. Should be a great contribution to the high end.

I remain amazed by the flexibility (and stability) of the platform in day-to-day use, and find Curt's always there to help via phone and VNC a great addition to an already strong offering.

Spot on! After 2 years use my MC I haven't had any issues. When I bought it the dealer told me that the failure rate was less than 1%. I can't wait for the new Altitude.

FYI - as a CEDIA attendee to be, I'm on their mailing list. This just hit the wire (Rur cross-posted elsewhere as well):

Hear Dolby ATMOS on Procella Speakers

See the New P6iW In-wall, P5 and P12 in Booth 850

Hear the state-of-the-art in Home Cinema at CEDIA Expo! In Booth 850, we'll have a full Procella-based Dolby Atmos 3D Audio system, with four ceiling mounted P6s - no upward firing speakers! Making its debut at the show will be the state-of-the-art Trinnov Altitude32 processor, which provides native Atmos decoding and unsurpassed audio quality.

Booth 850 is the home of Sound Developments, Procella distributor for North America. Anders, Chuck and Gerben will all be on hand with the Sound Developments team to welcome you and to show you the new P6iW in-wall, P5 speaker, and P12 active subwoofer, all shipping this fall.

To schedule an appointment with us at the show, contact Chuck Back or Gerben Van Duyl. See you in Denver!

EDIT: They're reporting the Atmos demo will be with a 9.2.4 configuration (i.e. 9.1.4 with two subs), as per the press release:
http://www.trinnov.com/tri_news/the-altitude32-to-deliver-dolby-atmos-multidimensional-sound-at-cedia/

One thing - for future prospective Altitude buyers : will the Altitude only utilize ceiling-based speakers or heights for Atmos, or like the mainstream manufactures are offering, also with top-firing "Dolby Atmos-capable" elements, such as the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers or those of other manufacturers to come such as KEF? Just being multiply redundant, if Curt feels it appropriate to answer at this point .

That's very sweet. ...Is DTS-UHD part of a future firmware update? ...Or is it simply not needed?

I'd be surprised if it did not, however both of the Trinnov models I've owned use large, slow-spinning fans which are inaudible, even in a dead quiet room.
