My guess is it has nothing to with the switch itself. The pairing within Strato would probably determine whether to show everything together or not. Then when you play, the software determines which player should play and the costar simply acts as an automated switch using the input with a signal.

Just a guess.

The costar solution is both software and hardware. Likely the Pro is just replacing the hardware component of their solution (e.g. their switch), but folks would still need the software (or license I'm guessing). Guess we will find out when they announce how it will work! SJ

All versions of Wonderwoman on Vudu are now 19.99 - which works for my LG OLED which can display DV but not for my Sony ES5000 Projector which can only display HDR10.
If Vudu converts the library to DV/HDR10 since DV is uses the HDR10 as the base, could be the end of discs and K Escape will be the only competition for those who care about the quality being Bit perfect.
I am warming up to Streaming and UV Library as I am tired of buying 4 versions of the same movie and as the quality is quite good and DV stream even has ATMOS.

I am happy to pay Kaleidescape $36.99 for this title for the convenience and lack of a physical disc, rather than waiting on the Amazon 4K UHD Blu-ray for $27.99.

This is how you do it, K, keep it up! More please!!!

From what I have been told by Kscape, there are two main reasons for the Lumagen Pro option for future premium Co-Star.

First is scaling of Premier 1080p content up to match the Strato 4k output. This would improve display change sync times. This not a big of issue for most TVs but some projectors seem to have issue with sync changes from back and forth 1080p to 4k changes.

The second reason is similar but relates to when Strato changes from SDR to HDR. Again this is mainly a problem for projectors. Anyone attending Cedia would have noticed this in Dynaudio Datasat demo using the Strato. When content switched from SDR to HDR, there was a brief green screen flash while projector synced. In the Meridian Audio demo there was no green flash and system performed to our usual expectations for Kscape. I didn't see inside the Meridian rack but I'm pretty sure they had a Lumagen in the display chain.

Personally I have experienced the green screen flash with both JVC and Epson projectors with the Strato. It occurs more when there are multiple devices in the HDMI chain from audio processors to hdmi matrix switches. It looks like the Lumagen can improve the hdmi signal strength.

The aim with Lumagen is to end up with a solution that will minimize switching time and disruption to the projector.

Well if they need beta testers, I have the Pro / Strato / Alto setup in my HT now. Would make it easier to see all the BluRays on the Strato List and not have to switch back n forth with the Alto to watch a BluRay.

You can see some of the Fox 4K movies. Also spotted a Paramount (Ghost in the Shell HD) movie. Didn't see any Paramount or Disney 4K. Hopefully soon....

I did see "Alien: Covenent" in UHD From Fox. Are there any others I missed?

Also, a number of Paramount titles but as SJHT said nothing showing in UHD.

I am ready for these to be added.

I wish Kal had plans to add a 4K disc changer. I know they have said categorically that they aren't planning to make one, but really in the last 6 months I've bought no blu-rays, only 4K UHD discs, so there is little point in me investing in a DV700 and Co-star. I'm crossing fingers they'll change their minds, as I'd buy one in a heart beat.

Did you buy "discs" because the K store didn't have the movie, or because it didn't have the correct audio 3D format?

And I agree with you on the 4K "DV700". It would make my Strato decision a no brainer (as well as the 4K DV700). I have said more than once that this decision to not create this product could end up having serious consequences for them if they are not able to get TIMELY availability of ALL 4K movies with the LATEST 3D audio tracks.

But, as you noted, they have made it more than clear they are not going to create the 4K DV700.

As I think I might have mentioned before in this thread, I buy the discs because its cheaper than buying from the Kal store. I then get to own the physical media (call me cautious, but I'd rather not rely on a digital only collection given recent history), and in most cases get a UV code to download from the store for free in any case.

I thought it wasn't working yet, but just looked and all the movies are showing up. They must have updated something (at least for my Alto/Strato/DV700 combos). I'm running costar in two different zones of our home. SJ

Art the main thing you need to do is Link your app to the Strato system.

You will see all your disc on the premiere system.

DVDs will show up in a collection called "other"

Yes, when I connect to my Strato, I see all the movies from both systems. It is pretty seamless except for the quick switch of players depending on what is selected.

Not sure what you mean by drive... There is no DVD drive in the Strato, and the hard disks can store anything really, so it would be a matter of the video capabilities of the Strato and whether or not they can output 8K video.

The differences in 2K vs 4K is not always very significant, particularly if the 2K is up converted. I can't imagine the screen size necessary to see the advantage of 8K - which of course has nothing to do with if it will be developed and marketed or not !!

Agree... Strato is just a computer running stripped down customized version of Linux . You can store whatever on the hard drive ..4k .. . 8K , 16k . There has to be an equivalent software player and display to use the resolution .
