Hamilton is part of the swatch group and the movement used is the same that is used in their most expensive chronographs. This watch can be bought for less than $800 if you look around.
Absolutly!!!! Nice looking watch too. Have you seen Ball watches lately? They are very well price, interesting, display backs and priced like the Hamilton.

I just bought a sweet Breitling Chrono Avenger 2 weeks ago, white face. I need to sell my near mint Omega Seamaster Chrono white face though. Know any good place to sell it (complete papers-boxes and I am the original owner)

I am looking at a Panerai 8 day that I absolutly LOVE! The is also a Zenith I am looking at but I need a date on my watches.

McIntosh MC207 Amps.........................DarbyVision Darblet
Marantz AV8801 Processor.................Da-Lite Screen

Where can I get a 100% authentic used solid 18k yellow gold rolex submariner or daytona?
I live in L.A. but can travel if the price is good.

Interesting! I don't visit this section very frequently and now I find a Hi-End watches thread!

I love watches as much as I love audio gear

Audemars Piguet is my personal favourite ;)

Take a look at this beauty: http://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/tim.../ja_chrono.jpg

Jorge

Beware of this part of the Forum!!! It is addictive. Once you discover it you are hooked... Not good for your pocket book. When it is not Audio or Video Gear, they will push you toward buying CD's or DVD else they will get you to spend your money on Room Treatment and when you think it is over they get you to fork money for fine watches. And if you really believe they are just about these. Read the other OT threads. On Physics... and often threads morph into philosophy or advanced physics or thermodynamics... or psychoacoustics... A most entertaining and captivating part of the AVS, I must tell you.. I am working on a project due for today.. and see I am replying.. :(

Ain´t this supposed to be the über rich part of avsforum?
How come there is so much discussions of where you can buy replicas of expensive watches? Is it allowed to post links to were you can download movies?

This is worse then pirating a movie, at least the movie doesn´t decline in value (statues) for the people that bought a legal dvd.

P.S. While you are at war with terrorism, could you please kill all the idiots that has been calling lately trying to convince people in sweden that they have won a trip to florida. We would really appriciate it, thanks.
(On the other hand, maybe the naive people that gives away their credit card number to unknown people on the phone needs to be taught a lesson.....)

Admittedly, most of you guys are out of my league (I can’t be spending $20k+ on audio equipment…or $7 million on a set of pocket watches, but it’s fun to listen to people who can). I do, however, have a silver Rolex Submariner. It’s an absolutely wonderful watch, and I love it. I used to wear it every day, until about four months ago.

While in Los Angeles, walking alone late at night talking on my mobile phone, a nice young man produced a gun and relieved me of my wallet and phone. While he was exceedingly polite (I’d never been mugged before, and I always expected the experience to be more harrowing then it was), he wasn’t terribly bright. He neglected to ask for my watch, and I didn’t offer it.

All told, he got a telephone (which, after reported stolen couldn’t be activated again and became worthless) and a wallet filled with bank cards that were canceled before he had a chance to use them and a small amount of cash. Had he been paying attention to what was on my wrist, he could have received at least a few grand for the watch at a pawn shop. Instead he made off with $30.

His inability to notice details . . . I blame the schools..

But I realized after that how quickly something of value could disappear. Now, I only wear the Rolex for special occasions or important business meetings. The problem I have now is that after weeks of sitting in a drawer, the perpetual winding has nothing to keep it going and I have to reset it every time I put it on. For day to day wear, I have a decent Victorinix Swiss Army chronograph. While not nearly as nice as the Rolex, I don’t have to worry about it getting stolen. Plus, nobody ever asks me “Is that real?â€

You should get a watch winder. I have one that keeps
four of my watches going. Works great. Nothing worse than
constantly having to set watches when you want to wear them.

I've seen fake Swatch watches.

Beautiful AP there Jorge. I only own a single AP, an 18kt YG moonphase with the JLC automatic movement. I picked it up used for $2,500.

My "best" dress watch is probably an 18kt YG IWC ultrathin ("Romain") I bought NOS (new old stock) for $2,100 from European Watches in Boston. Fantastic piece with the JLC 839 movement.

My favorite everyday watch is the Blancpain fifty-fathoms in stainless steel on a bracelelet. It is a bit like the Rolex "Yachtmaster" only 5x as nice.

If anyone is looking for a good deal on highend timepieces I recommend the Geneva Antiquorum auctions. I have gotten some amazing deals, on such things as an Omega Louis Brandt perpetual calendar watch in 18kt rose gold for $3,800.

I just got a Accutron Gemini chronograph.
http://www.ewatches.com/media/enlarge/26C01.jpg

Uses the same movement that many high-end chronographs use. Got it for less than $600. The picture doesn't do justice to the beautifully engraved dial.

Try timezone.com or watchnet.com (their trading post sections).

Hi Robert,

Yes, the APs are beautiful watches. Unfortunately the Royal Oaks are too expensive (or my wallet is nof fat enough) :D

Mmmm... Now I realize that I have a serious problem for Christmas: A new Pass X250.5 power amp for me and (obviously) a new Baume & Mercier for my wife :o

This could be the watch for youAP Royal Oak Perpetual in 18kt YG

That would be a steal if it went for 11K.

RobertWS - Indeed good deals can be had at Antiquorum.

But like with everything, you have to know the market in order not to overpay. I am always on the lookout for nice IWC Ingenieurs (have a weak spot for them) and Franck Muller Curvex Casablancas.

One of these days I'll buy...:)

I think it uses this mechanical complication: ETA Caliber 2890A9 which has gears to account for the phases of the moon, different lengths of the months and the leap year. The Omega has a different base movement custom made for this watch, and hand engraved to decorate it. IIRC, it listed for $16,000 back when it was released 20 years ago.Omega Perpetual

I usually bid live via the internet (you must pre-register), but you can attend in person. Check out Antiquorums' website for details.
