Yes, they are way to relaxed when it comes to mainstream movies. Even if it ends up on the "working on list" it doesn't seem to be getting any priority. And even if it was, the communication of this information is late. This was obviously a high priority title. dissapointing yet again.

I agree that MI4 is a high priority title. But couldn t we help D-Box by sending them personal mails for high priority movies instead of whining and talk about them on this forum?

Guys, it's pretty obvious that the CWO list on the web site is purely to appease this board.

Instead, they should just update it when they are REALLY working on something. It should be in their processes: When a motion coder/artist starts a new projects, add it to the COW list on the web site. How hard is that?

I wouldn't think it should be necessary for anyone to send them emails to ask that mainstream new releases of obvious high interest, should be coded. They are in the buisness, so they should be able to tell what movies should get priority. I'm sure many of us are overwhelmed with other things going on in life as well. In any case, they should be well aware ahead of release that Mission Impossible 4 is an obvious mainstream, highly desired code.

We just watched M:I4. Definitely a D-Box kind of movie. I will probably rent it again when the codes are done. Had I thought it through better, I would have waited to rent it.

Being a new D-box user (even though I've been pretty active here and bought my setup last March, I've only been live for a couple of weeks), is this logic sound when factoring in D-box codes and movie watching choices? I think some of this has been discussed before.

If its a relatively "big" release, involves action/adventure or is an obvious candidate for D-box codes, what is the typical top-end of weeks/months to wait for codes before giving up?

I realize this is going to be independent of movies that are released with D-box codes in the theater, aren't those usually within a few days or weeks of Bluray release?

Oh, and as far as priority of high profile titles, aren't the same ones we all want to see on D-box going to be the ones that take the most time to code? So maybe they are working as hard or harder on something like MI4 vs. Wanderlust, but wouldn't Wanderlust take a fraction of the time to code?

It depends on the time of year. It can be as short as a couple of days (Avatar) or can stretch on for two to three months (Predators). Lately the turn around has been two to three weeks (Drive).

These are released day & date.

In related news, while not the long overdue website overhaul, D-Box just clarified their upcoming releases page by specifying the meaning of each of the three columns:

"New Releases ( Blu-RayTM & DVD) - (MFX will be available on release day)"

"Re-Mastered for Blu-RayTM - (MFX already available in DVD format)"

"Currently Working On - (MFX will be available shortly)"

No, but the Dune and Oppo media players work for sure (digital toslink+HDMI audio simultanously).

So with Dune and Oppo, you get Dolby digital out the digital toslink for DBOX sync, and Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master out the HDMI port for lossless audio from BLURAY?

No, due to release date timing over here, we'll get Snow White & The Huntsman in D-Box instead on the theatrical side.

This is third time I can recall within the last six months where a title was released with D-Box theatrically in international markets but not here in the US. The other two times being with Goon and Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

D-Box review in this month's Home Theater magazine. Spends quite a bit of time discussing the lack of HDMI support, but mostly positive.

I just took a look at the May issue & their website and I can't find the article you're referring to. On their website, they ran a video about D-Box at CES, but that's it as far as anything recent.

I think Home Theater usually holds back the magazine content for a while from the web. Not sure they even publish everything on the web that is in the mag.

Love it. As soon as I complete the Home Theater build, I'm resubscribing. That'll be within the next 30 - 45 day.
