Thanks to Peter at Cineramax for all the support.

On a side note, the Godfather series in D-Box was a little disappointing, barely noticed a rumble now and then. Lucy on the other hand just about bounced me out of the seat!
No Problem Tony, Thanks for spreading the love.

We have been watching HBO's Band of Brothers this week. In case anyone has not checked this out in D-Box, the MFX is outstanding! Some very demo worthy scenes.

Lucky you!

I moved last May and since then, haven't used my D-Box system... the dedicated home theater is one of the added features of my new flat... the problem is, the home theater is not ready yet.

But there still is hope, as I am working almost every weekend on the project.

Cheers!

Hi all!

We are looking to renew our D-BOX demo, in the show room.

Any motion codes/movies standing out to really demonstrate the D-BOX experience?

We've been using ''The Avengers'', ''Avatar'' and lately ''Guardians of the Galaxy''.

We were wondering what were your personal BEST D-BOX picks.

If you could give us feedback, it would be great.

Thank you for your help!

Cheers! =)

For all D-Box enthusiasts !

Looks like D-Box has started putting out release notes with the new HEMC code packs.

EDIT: Looks like they slipped in the capability for the HEMC to automatically download new code packages with the 20 Feb update.

Looks like last night's HEMC update (1.0.0.91) has been taken down. Anyone try it before it was deleted?

The release notes (which have also been changed back to version 1.0.0.89) mentioned a bug fix was included in that release concerning the HEMC waiting 1 hour before accepting a new code package after the last D-Box movie synchronization occurred.

EDIT: 1.0.0.91 is back up now.

Selfmade Software.. can simply pick movies from my database and add them to the D-Box Motion Demo with timestamps. When running the demo, all selected movies will be played one after another at the given position for the given length. This is 20 minutes of intensive motion Demo for my guests :-)

Hey guys. I have long been enjoying the forum and still read it frequently, but I notice how much easier it is to drill down on certain topics when things are broken up a bit more and not one mega thread. Much like the kaleidescape owners forum has been set up years ago, I took it upon myself to start a DBOX owners forum. It just went live this morning and still needs some work to polish it up, but check it out when you get the chance:

http://www.dboxowners.com/

I think it will be a lot easier to find answers with threads broken up more to keep discussions on point.

I've been away for a cpl weeks, and just got back... I'm reading the release notes of the new update and not sure if I understand.

1. I'm downloading 1.0.0.91. It appears that the HEMC will now auto download motion codes. So do I have to update the HEMC anymore after this update?

2. Or, do I still have to install the updated firmware from the website, and the unit will download the motion code separately?

The updates are still very large, would have thought they'd be smaller if the system was auto updating the motion codes.

Anyone know for sure?

Also, do we have to keep the unit powered on all the time, I power mine down when they are not being used...

Sony VW1100 | Stewart 156" Ultramat 150
McIntosh 151 | 3 x MC601 | 1 x MC205 | Oppo 105 | Lumagen 2041
B&W 800 / HTM 2 Diamonds | 4 x Paradigm ADP3 | 2 x Fathom F212
D-Box HEMC & 2 x SRP 330 platforms

I guess not, if you leave it on Friday afternoons/evenings EST.

This is addressed in the release notes as a known issue, they're trying to get them smaller.

I'd just leave it on for the Friday downloads, and then off when you're not using it. Or just download the updates to the thumbdrive and only turn it on when you need it.

HEMC Not Auto Downloading

Well, Left the HEMC on the entire week, I see the next build of the FW is on the site, but the HEMC has not updated itself...

Has anyone else actually seen their box auto update?

There is no indication on the box, no setting, to configure this.

Honestly, as a software developer, it is frighting how poor some companies develop software for consumers...

Still waiting on my HEMC to come in.

While I am waiting, my series III 340c died. I was wanting to upgrade the motherboard as long as I was going to replace the hard drive.

Anybody know the model of motherboard they are using in the series IV controllers?

I am not sure, if everybody has the same undestanding what "auto update" is supposed to cover. For the 340C and the Series IV, auto update was the automatic update of motion codes. Other firmware/software updates had to be applied manually.

Maybe, D-Box is handling it the same way with the HEMC...?

Cheers!

Hi, the original VIA EPIA board in the 340C is very prone to the so-called capcitor pleague. If you look at the capacitors on the board usually more than one show a domed top, which is a clear sign that they are gone. Most of them are 1000 µF, 6.3V and they can be replaced. I fixed a number of boards by replacing them. It worked although my soldering skills are limited.
There is also a small daughter board for the power supply, which also might need a few capacitors to be replaced.

In my modded 340C (see my post in this thread a few years ago), I used another Mini-ITX-Board from VIA, the LN-10000EG, which worked as well. In theory, ony should be able to use any mini-itx-board, as long as there are XP-drivers and it does not consume more energy than the originial board. Otherwise one would have to beef up the power supply...

I am not sure if all the seies IV do have the same motherboard installed. After all, the IV-series has been sold for many years.

Cheers!

Markus

Markus,

They series IV might not have the same motherboard model, but likely are in the same family. I just want to see what they are using that has the header pins for the IR control because the newer VIA micro-ITX boards do not have headers.

I am going to keep this documented on the thread I put in the D-BOX owners forum, but there isn't a lot of traffic there yet since the forum is only a couple weeks old.
http://www.dboxowners.com/forum/usea...troller-repair

I am going to do a fresh install since the hard drive went down and as such, I would like a newer generation board if possible so I can use SATA drives and possibly have a faster search/recognition time.
