I'm getting close to the point of maybe thinking of buying it, but seems the problems outweigh the benefits right now.
They slowly fix issues like sync issues with different sources with the HEMC. While this hurt those who did not want to upgrade, at least D-Box provided current users a significant discount.
To determine if it is right for you, you need to look at what gets the most complaints. That is what titles are released and when. If you like to pick up the latest movies on Thursday and watch them within a week, you may be let down. At one point (short duration) the new codes would be out by that same Friday (only if coded the theatrical release), but that is not the case anymore. It can still happen, but it is more the exception than the rule. I would say the average is about 2 weeks with some odd Sunday code releases.
The next drawback is the subscription model. $250 a year. On the plus side, they do take coding requests. I know I have had over a half dozen titles coded after I requested, though some may have been in the pipeline without me knowing.
There also is no current support for audio mode on the HEMC, but that is something I never really used myself.
