I am setting one of these up right now and I was just curious to see if anyone else has one and what your settings are? I am most interested in finding out what gamma settings are being used and if anyone is using this in combination with a scaler...is it better to make the adjustments on the scaler or on the projector or both?

The system that I am working with has a 120" diagonal Stewart Firehawk 2.35:1 screen with 16x9 horizontal masking, ISCO lens, DVDO VP30 scaler feeding 720p straight to the projector. Sources are DirecTV HR20, Denon DVD-2930ci, Escient DVD-M100 with Sony CDP-CX777ES, Escient E2-100, Sony VCR and Mitsubishi Security Hard Drive Recorder. LG BluRay/HD DVD player is on the way.

The projector is 33 feet from the screen so focus is excellent. The room has total light control and is pitch black when the lights are off...you can't see your hand in front of your face when the projector is off.

I am also curious as to real-life experiences with the new Titan 1080p 250. If anyone actually has one installed...what are your thoughts and what settings are you using?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Stephen

You are correct Art...I had a conversation with my DPI rep today and he tells me that it will be at least 4-6 weeks before I will be able to get my hands on one. I thought that they would be out by now. I wonder what the hold up is? Do you know of anyone who has the Titan HD 250 or HD 500 up and running? Are you the opthomologist videophile he was talking about that lives up in MI with the twin G90s?

Yea that's me. The guys from DPI are some of the greatest IMO. I personally don't know what's up with the three chips SIM is late too. I'm going to be looking at the HT5000 at length this weekend.

The delays have been in the availability and consistency of the chips. Each manufacturer got a batch of 500 initially around the end of 2006. Chirstie was out of the gate first though.

Yes but you have to be more descriptive of the nature of white light than Alans Famously Minimalist "Popping Picture" review. You have to be ruthlessly honest about those whites. Please.

I have found that gamma setting 2.2 is the proper setting for viewing hd video content from satellite on this projector. Still looking to find if the same setting is best for film content. Anyone else have one of these?

Hello all. Since I'm new in this market I would like to know if someone knows the retail price of TITAN HD500/TITAN HD250 and the price for a dealer, if possible. Someone knows the name of a dealer where can I buy it in Europe?
Thanks

Dealers will all vary in pricing. But street prices aren't allowed on the forum. Retail on the 250 I believe is $42995 sans lens.

Actually, Jason,

The TITAN HD 500 is 24,995 MSRP and the TITAN HD 250 is 22,995 MSRP ...these are the 720P machines

The price for the 1080P : TITAN 1080P-250 is as you posted: 42,995.

All prices are without lens.

DPI should have used 1080 TITAN 250 and 1080 Titan 500 for the new projectors.

Dan
BTW, not being snarky, just wanted to clarify a needlessly confusing situation.
