So, whats' the word on the new Sim2 3 chip dlps? I could not go to CEDIA this year and I was hoping for a little info from those lucky enough to go. I have the C3X but I am willing to upgrade if the difference is significant. I was also hoping that Sim2 could fit it into the same body as the C3X which would make the upgrade a simple switch out. The ht 5000 doesn't fit well in my theater.

Its a different machine ,not just a panel swap. DC4 is still a bit down the line.

I saw the C3X 1080p at Cedia today and it was very, very impressive. I think I am going to upgrade from my C3X 720p after seeing the demo. They demoed a HT3000e, C3Xe, and C3X 1080p. All looked great. Also attended a session on the new color management software which all these new units will have. It also looked very functional. Sim2 is kicking a$$ these days.

A couple of friends had a demo of the 1080 unit and said the same as yourself.
re color CMS, the single chip version is due in a couple of weeks.

FOR THOSE WHO SAW THE SIM2'S AT CEDIA Is there that much difference in color and and especially contrast between the C3XE and C3X 1080p. What if you are sitting beyond 1.5 screen widths back does the resolution look about the same? Thanks Greg

My C3X looks very good from 1.6 (2nd row) but my first row is about 1.3 and the pixels are very obvious. Is the new C3X 1080p pixel structure visible at 1.3. In general what is the difference between the 2 projectors in that regard?

I can assure you the C3X 1080 already has the DC4, the one we are demoing in our booth and on the TI booth has these new DMD's, so rest assured if you place an order now they will be included.

A big thank you to all that visited us today, your positive comments about our new products and the Live Colors calibration software is most welcome.

No 1080 machine will have a visible structure at 1.3 SW without binoculars . On my machines i need to go to within 0.5 SW

I'll definitely place that order until SIM2 upgrade the HT5000 with DC4.

BTW, how did TI's demo achieve a CR of 100K:1? Thru the use of DynamicBlack?

Please provide a link to the Sim2 press release.

The 100000:1 needs dynamicblack since DC4 is about 10000:1 native.

Leds is no advantage in reaching a higher native contrast ratio. To me it is a lie. 100000:1 with DynamicBlack is for sure but not without it.

Samsung uses local dimming leds and gets 500000:1!
Its more true to say that the leds are 100000:1 than to imply that dlp has anything to do with it. It is the system that has a native contrast.

In say RS2 one pixel can be totally off and some other pixles fully on. Their ratio could in theory be 30000:1. In the rptv dlp I think the max in theory ratio between two pixels could be between 5000-10000:1 or so.

If you are confusing the HT5000 then the 2nd lamp is around $10k extra.

Like coldmachine said, I don't think there's a two lamp version for the 1080p c3x.

There isn't. (Tight enough fit already in that C3X box.) (Which is also the reason there is no horiz. lens shift, and limited vert. shift).

Question for Alan Roser. Does the new C3X use the same variable lamp intensity setting as the old one?

I experienced bulb flicker with a C3X I owned, and experienced it in a 3000e that I demoed. It appears to be an issue related to the variable lamp output adjustment, and the lamp ballast. Adjusting the output, can make the problem go away, at least temporarily.

Has anything been changed to adress the issue of bulb flicker in this new projector, and the 3000e?

Phil

Has the vertical lens shift been improved at all? I mount on a high rear shelf in the upright position, and have to use keystone correction due to the limited shift on Sim2 projectors.

Can anyone at CEDIA tell me if the screen at the demos for the Sim2 is an SMX screen by any chance? Ruben said they might be using one.

Being totally honest here..... the higher end machines are really meant for an on axis install. I would never have a $30k or $50k machine installed in anything othere than absolute true. Any off axis install will be a compromise.

How much do you need?

My last 3 models had between 0.25 and 0.5 screen height. Are you that far out?
