Hmmmm..... Still wanting you to come out in Feb when Gino visits.

Plus, I've done a lot to the room since you were here.

I definitely would have to say that Art needs to be in the list for sure.

Agreed,

I don't think we will ever see some of the truly "fantastic" HT that must exist out there in some parts of the world and for people where price is no object (Just imagine how many amazing HT's there could be in Dubai alone).

We can surely do a top ten on AVS though and in that list we would certainly have both Art and Ruben's masterpieces IMO.

Cheers

Is there a link to a thread or web site with these guys' theaters? I'm sure a lot on here have seen them a thousand times but some of us newbies haven't

Ruben needs to post some updated pics with his new Martin Logans
He has a few on the SMX site that I won't link to but it would be great to see some shots with the screen down and the back lighting like he had for the old speakers. Either way he still has a tremendous HT that makes my jealous bone twitch every time I see it (as does Art's and a few other here including Cliff who's screen shots have made me think of the older PJ in a completely new light).

There are a quite a few contenders been built right now as well. If Mark P ever finishes the project he has going it will likely be in the top ten, it is better then most (mine included) already been only 1/2 done.

Great Idea Cliff maybe you can start the list with a group of the top 20 or so and open it to a vote by AVS and see what everything thinks? A pick by peers if you will.

Cheers

That's a GREAT idea! Could you post a link to Mark P's?

A few I could think of right now:

Art Sonneborn
Ruben (SMX)
Me???? (my theater is basic but the sound and video are incredible).
The Bland
Don Kellogg
Alan Gouger

Any more guys?

Not sure if Mark's is ready for the list but it certainly will be once he gets it completed if the early work is any indication.

Post # 446 is the last photo update I think but hopefully he will have something more soon its been awhile since he started on the aquarium

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...566082&page=15

Some others that are either complete or nearly complete and a few others that are still under construction worth mentioning IMO are Utah997, Swithey, Chinadog, W00lly, Strange Brew, BIGmouthinDC, Calbear

I'm off and running so I'll have to post links to these great HT's later but they can all be found in the dedicated forum.

Cheers

Let's not forget the CRT blends of Antorsae and Gino. The Stewart Glass retro currently under construction. That 16 Ft screen in San Fransisco thread is fun to watch with that tiny fellah from Latin America in front of it. Who was it that build that entertaining room/theater with the DPI Titan, was a huge thread, very grand project, perhaps already included in the list.

Let's not forget the various ladies Cineramax has brought home to meet us.

And there's Wolfgang Mayer's and Jeremy Kipnis 4K theater.

Can't remember/find it anymore, but there was one self-build that had a very nice coffered ceiling.

Still like that $3.4 million one, all that's is missing are the red lights;-).

That's a seriously extreme setup but the only thing I dont like about it is all of the amps lit up in front of the screen when you are watching a movie. That would be too distracting for me........

That guy has some SERIOUS gear though. Absolutely sick.

There is a nice one I have seen here a few times, in the San Diego area I think.

It has a very high ceiling and true stadium style seating, it's one sweet looking theater.

All the amp lights can be turned off.

Also there was a lovely picture posted recently by Wolfgang of them lying on the couch with chaise longue section, projectors sprawled around them on the floor.

Do a top ten for people in the biz and a top ten for people not working in the industry but still have the amazing HT's like Art and others.

That and we need a mod to clean up the posts that aren't adding anything to thread of which there are may for only 50 posts sadly.

I'll get to posting some links when I get some more time I have to replace the bulb in my 333 while I have help here I can't do it alone

Yep, that's actually a good idea. I'll probably start a new thread after we get some more ammo going.

So what are the specs on the 333?

Sounds good. I can't wait to see the theaters. So far I've been very impressed, as well as a bit envious.

I wish I had enough space to do more than one room so I could separate them out into distinct HT and two channel listening rooms. When the kids go off to college, in say 15 years or so , my wife and I will likely scale down the house and scale up a HT and separate listening room space, since we will not have to have so many rooms for all the kids...

Or, perhaps we will do something sooner when the kids don't need the playroom any longer... In say, 8-10 years or so.

I love how a lot of the theaters look, but the one with the almost completely black interior is probably going to be the best "visually" for showing movies due to ambient light issues.

Some guy in my area put his HT in an old grain silo. Friends of mine went to go see it in Bedford Corners NY somewhere. I was supposed to go, but I had something else come up. My wife got to see it though on one of those house tours, she said it was pretty neat.

Member here and all around worthy of consideration for top 10 member theater although I have no idea what gear is in there:

Dennis Erskine did this room too, so it can't sound too bad either

Interesting theater, too bad the rest of the website is so hard to browse with the background music and load times... My wife was shocked, the music made her think I was looking at porn while she was doing something else on the other side of the room!
