Raymond,

You have enough posts on AVS to know you can't make blanket statements like this without being called before the AVS brethren.

Pretty entertaining thread...
TJ, you should try playing some rap music on the Sierras. While I couldn't care less for rap as a genre of music, I was very impressed by the tight, controlled bass from the Sierras!

This is an interesting thread. I find the claims for the Sierras intriguing, and I always enjoy unexpectedly powerful bass from a bookshelf, so I was considering trying a pair.

If you buy a pair, let the flame wars BEGIN!!! I think gus's worst nightmare might be about to become real... lol

Since we're still waiting for TJHUB, I'll just post some experience with the Cardas speaker placement I've tried it, and it works. Seems a bit silly since the speakers are really close together and you're sitting pretty damn close to them in the center of the room, but you really get a sound improvement in terms of clarity and imaging (vs my original positioning). On the downside, bass suffers a bit and the deal killer is that it hides the projector screen...

But it's worth the try. Does a really great job at reducing room interaction and really give you a good look at the speaker sound itself. I'd say that it would sound a lot closer to the measurements when listened to in that fashion. But again, it's not really representative of what others will hear in their room with their speaker placement.

If I buy a pair, I will give an accurate and objective report as always.
At this point, I am thinking I love my Cambridge S30s too much to replace them in the near future.

I think the Sierras are off my list. The only minimonitors that stand a chance of outperforming my S30s must necessarily cost $1000 or more, they are that good.

I have a LOT going on behind the scenes. If I told you, I'd have to kill you (or at least have your memory erased). What I will say is that something has the potential to be VERY cool, or maybe not. We'll see...

Right now, things are being held up by a very important man that needs to read his email more often. You know who you are...

I said that in the post you quoted. The mind-blowingly awesome Cambridge Audio S30s. I used to own B&W 705s that were more than 6 times the the price and were not as good.

This week, at least. Last week, wasn't it some passive KRKs?

I change speakers a lot. But wishing to not look like a fool, I abstain from coming on here and touting my fave of the week as the most mind-blowingly awesome speakers I have ever heard. Since I know that next week, there'll be a new fave. Just some friendly advice.

Your sense of time is way off. That was months ago (ancient history, in other words.)
Besides, instead of revealing shortcomings over time as most speakers do, the S30s just keep sounding better. As long as that trend continues, there will never be a reason to try anything else.

Def Tech, B&W, Cambridge, KRK, etc...it's always something that for one reason or another is the best you've ever heard and unbeatable in some regard. I'm not knocking your enthusiasm, just poking fun at your fickle nature...

Not fickle about the Def Techs. I have had them for close to 8 years now, and have never had the slightest inclination to try anything else for HT.
From the beginning, one of the purposes of my separate 2.0 system was to try new things without the cost of multichannel. In a way, having found a truly flawless and unimproveable system is a bad thing, since it eliminates the desire to experiment (one less hobby.)
