I'm looking at the yam 1800 or Pioneer elite 92 to go with my NHT speakers 7.1 set up. So which one will match up the best for 70% movies and 30% music. Thanks

Probably whichever one has the most real power output w/all channels driven. The NHTs are a bit on the low efficiency side.

I will be using a Acurus amp to power, the front 3 and the receiver will power the rears.

Shouldn't be a problem then.

What about SQ between the two.

I wouldn't get either if SQ is a priority, but that's just IMO. Never liked either. Yamaha always seems to get a shrill sound out of their amps, Pioneers just sound lackluster to me. NAD, Rotel, Arcam, Cambridge would be the choices if sound quality is a priority.
