Has anyone tried the new Stealth 8's or 6's? I just posted my NHT Classice 4 system on my local Craigslist, as soon as they sell I'll be picking up a pair to try out. My vision is Stealth 8's front and rear, I'm guessing a 8 for the center and possibly Stealth 6's for side. I've got a Sunfire Theater Grand pre/pro with balanced outputs which will match up nicely.

Emotiva XMC-1, Tekton Double impact, GoldenEar XXL center, Airmotiv 6's, GoldenEar Aeon 2's rear, Epik/DIY sub, Oppo DVD, Parts Express 15 sub kit, Epson 5030 projector, Crown XLS2500 X 4, 1 running the Tekton's

Tell me about the XRT 6.2.

Worth the price?

I've never heard those particular model speakers but I have owned all of their reference line at one time or another. I still own some of them. I currently have the ERT 8.3 reference towers with an ERM 6.3 center and ERD-1 surrounds. I also have a pair of bookshelf ERM-1's in the bedroom. I love the tweeter - which they all share with the XRT-6.2's you are interested in. IMO they make some good speakers.

I thought I'd bump this thread for some interesting news about Emotiva speakers - they've just announced a new line of speakers to be released somewhere around springtime according to Emotiva. The Emo Lounge has a thread going about it and the podcast released by Emotiva earlier today. They also announced the pending XMC-1 will be 'built in America'. Good news for Emotiva and American workers. Every job helps. As for the 'built in America' - maybe - kinda - sorta - but we all know China will probably produce a lot of the components that mount on PCB boards etc. They did announce that PCB assembly would be in California so there is quite a bit of work done here. I applaud that move - I'd like to see them make these new speakers in the USA but one step at a time.

I've owned a set of their speakers - the ERT 8.3 towers - 6.3 center and ERD surrounds for a few years now. If the new speakers are anything like my ERT's they should be something. The new speakers will have a ribbon ribbon tweeter - the same as from the AirMotiv active speaker line.

I've been toying around with the idea of buying some Salk Song Towers with the regular tweeter but the idea of a 3 way ribbon tweeter in a tower sounds interesting.

Seems like interesting times when a company so heavily involved with manufacturing things in China for many years has decided to assemble everything in-house - offhand the only company I know of building a major electronics package in the USA.

Id like to go with 5. Stealth 8's
For the front and rear , 2. Stealth 6's for the sides. Also to handle bass duty, I was thinking of going with two subs, HSU 15".
I need suggestions on a pre/pro priced under 1k .
How do you think this setup would sound?

Thanks

Another question I have about the Stealth 8 & 6's, Since these are powered monitors, whenever they are being used , obviously you are using electricity. So this adds. To your power bill. How much concern would this be for you if you owned these speakers? Would you think your electric bill would go up too much? Just wondering on this issue. Thanks for the feedback.

I think you'll find that all amplifiers, regardless of whether they are located in the speakers, in the AVR or in the external amps, will use electricity ;)

Okay I am in serious need of some help. My basic set up is a 5.1 I just ordered another amp to upgrade to 7.1. also ordered the uaw8.2 in walls for rears. My intial plan was to replace my xrm4.1 with the uaw8.2 for surrounds sides and order the uac 8.2 for the rears, but in the end decided to keep the xrm's on the side walls due to emotiva being out of stock of the uac8.2's. I need help on where to place my rears now. My set up is I have vaulted ceilings where the rears will go and this is the only place I can put them the back wall is in the kitchen which connects to the ceiling if that makes sense, I will post pic later im at work now. Is it okay to use the in wall speakers on the vaulted ceiling for in ceiling, they will be facing the seating position and i can point the tweeter or are the in wall strictly for side walls, how do you guys think it would look. Also which direction is best vertical or horizontal. Another option would be to just take my xrm 4.1's down and use the uaw8.2 for the side walls and just buy the uac6.2 for the vaulted ceiling but i fear i might sacrifice sound taking down my xrm's. Just looking for help before I cut into my walls and hear my wife's nagging want to make sure of the best option.
Will their be a problem considering the uaw 8.2 have no backing with them in the ceiling, is their some type of cover i can buy for the speaker being exposed, dust and things(insulation) from the attick could clog the speaker up causing it not to perform well right or am i reaching?

Upcoming Emotiva Pro Stealth 88's?

Very interested in these... if they get to the market. Other than what's in this thread on the Emotiva Lounge, does anyone have any more details/info on the vaunted Stealth 88?

Apparently this will be a dual woofer version of the Stealth 8 with more powerful (3 x 300W?) amps. Extrapolating from the Stealth 8 specs, one of them may be able to achieve 115dBSPL at 1m in half space.

If they come to fruition, three 88's for LCR along with a couple of pairs of Stealth 6's hooked up to a pre/pro like the Onkyo PR-SC5509 could make for a pretty formidable system in a moderate sized HT.

Any more info fellas? Further thoughts? Any rumours or rampant speculation? biggrin.gif

What are the thoughts of the UAC 8.2? I noticed that they are 4ohm rated. Would that cause issues with the rest of my setup that has 6ohm speakers?

I've owned many of Emotiva's speakers - all were 4ohm rated but were easily driven by most receiver. Mixing/matching speaker impedances isn't a problem.

Thanks for your time! I'm excited to hear what you guys have to say about Emo products as they've interested me in the past, but I've never really had the chance to hear them.

I'm looking to move to a pair of Stealth 6's for fronts in my system, running them from an XDA-2 or DC-1; the speakers I'm coming from are Dynaudio Focus 140s. Anyone think I'll be missing out if I pair these with a sub or two and listen in a 12x18~ish room?

Those of you going with Stealth powered speakers for home theater. Are you running standard RCA single ended cables to them, or going with balanced XLR cables to minimize hum over long runs?

For Emotiva, their own forum has most of the activity... see here:

I've been looking for the same thing, but so far no luck. I've heard from the Emotiva forum that the first shipment of new speakers are, literally, 'on a slow boat from China'.

First deliveries are due in August and then I assume we will begin to see some reviews.

Removing grill on in-wall

Resurrecting this old thread to see if anyone can give me advise on how to remove the grill/metal screen on an older Emotiva UAW 8.2 in-wall speaker. Trying to pull it out with a paper clip but no go. Thought I'd ask before I do any visible damage.

Here's a good thread on the new passive Airmotiv speakers.

Wow! This thread hasn't been bumped in nearly a year!

Hasn't anyone bought the new T1 or T2 Airmotiv towers? I haven't heard any of these new passive speakers but I have heard the tweeter they put in them. I've owned the powered AM6 speakers - and bought a pair of Am4 powered speakers last year for my daughter's birthday. I was quite impressed with how they sound. My daughter loves them. She says her tv has never sounded so good. I wasn't surprised by that.

I have a T2 order with C2 and E1s arriving Monday. Interestingly emotiva sent the documentation separately and it arrived yesterday. The doc detailed the upcoming E2 which has two amt tweeters and can be configured as dipole bipole.

Can't wait to installed and I will post my impressions.

Based on my experience with the B1s, I imagine that T2s will be outstanding. However, I'm more interested in seeing how well the E1s work with their smaller driver.

I recently had the opportunity to hear the new Emotiva T1 towers. I sold a guy my Onkyo TX-8050 2 channel receiver locally. He wanted to hear it play so I connected it up to the song towers and played a few FLAC tunes via the USB port. Sounded very good of course - he asked for some recommendations on speakers & was most interested in the song towers. My first response was "they aren't for sale" - he laughed and said "well, I had to try, they sound so good." Anyway I sent him on his way with the 8050 and a list of speakers & manufacturers - all internet direct (ID) - including Salk - Philharmonic - Hsu - Ascend - SVS - and a few others. He called me to invite me over for a listening session a few weeks later. He had bought a pair of Emotiva T1 towers. He had also bought a tt off the list I had made for him - a Music Hall 2.2. Same model that I got for my son last xmas. Very nice sounding IMO. Better than my Marantz IMO.

Anyway I listened to the T1's for about half an hour. It seemed like there was a bit too much bass but everything else sounded very good, the guy mentioned he had cranked the bass up earlier and forgot to return it to neutral. Once it was reset to it's neutral position everything sounded fairly balanced. I love the AMT tweeter employed in the T1 - same tweeter as found in the self-powered Airmotiv 6 speakers I owned for a time. I came away with the impression that for the money being asked it was quite a bargain. I'm not ready to give up my song towers and run out and buy a pair of T1's - I'd probably order the slightly more expensive T2's.

For music these are something that should be on your list if you're in the market for a nice budget speaker. For a surround sound setup I'd stick with the B1s with the matching center and surrounds and a good sub or two. For a strictly two channel setup the T1's can probably be used sans a sub in smaller rooms. Or spend another $300 and get the T2's. And you might not want to wait too long - Emotiva has a track record of suddenly discontinuing audio gear at the drop of a hat even when there are lots of them going out the door. Thats about the only rub I have with the Emotiva business model - no continuity with their audio gear - and this applies especially to speakers. I still think one of the best bargains in speakers was the Emotiva ERM-1 bookshelfs. I'd still have a pair but I got tired of stubbing my toe on a subwoofer in my bedroom 2 channel setup. If you see a pair for sale anywhere around and under the $200 mark and you're looking for something small and very good grab em! You won't be sorry. Small package with a very large sound - the only nit being they rolled off below 80hz in a big hurry. They were 'all-in' by 60hz according to my measurements. Read the first post in this thread if you're curious about the Emotiva Reference Speaker lineup. The ERM-1 was the first ones to market - followed quickly by the ERT towers (owned those for 5 years) and the ERM 6.2's and 6.3's. The 6.2 was IMO as good and maybe slightly better than the 6.3's.
