Cherry RTi A9s by Polk; A measly $1,750 a pair MSRP; but one of the sexiest speakers I've seen.

Do these remind anyone else of giant snails in a sci-fi something?

Wow those are some very ugly grills on those speakers. Why did the manufacturer use those type of grills on that speaker? Otherwise they would look pretty good.

They're pretty cool in person, but different strokes... It's a nice speaker. Also, the bottom drivers are in a sealed enclosure.

Yes, that is one of the coolest speakers ever built. The "infinite" transmission line, kills are resonance (that was the idea anyway, i have not heard the speaker IRL). The range is incredible:

10-25.000 Hz +/- 3.0 dB

25-20.000 Hz +/- 0,5 dB

Boy i would love to hear that speaker, it was so good looking, expensive (~$70k retail price in those days) and heavy (110 kg per speaker).

The speaker also needed MASSIVE power to be driven, minimum was 4 mono-blocks per speaker with 225 Watt @ 4 ohm each.

The magnet in the 300 mm bas element weighted in at 9.5 kg.

Crazy..

well!! the idea in the design was to mimick the Nautilus snail like shell to completely remove any kind of resonance for an unparalleled sound hence the name of the speakers.

K-Horn 60th anniversary editions. Think about it...60+ years in production. That is pretty darned impressive for ANY product!

Then I got curious and took a look at their homepage and I must say...those are some of the sexiest speakers I've seen so far. Is it wrong to call speakers sexy? Anyways I am now wondering...what else might be out there that I have yet to discover. Im talking about speaker that just cant be ignored and just make you say DAMN! thats a good looking speaker. Let see some pics.

Interesting thread.

I like the look of many of the speakers in the $2000-20000 range. The ultra high end stuff look like a giant version of what my 2 year old would be playing with. To each his own I guess.

i think that the Onix Strata Mini and the Infinity Kappa 600 are both speakers with excellent craftsmanship....of course i also own them both

But if i have money to spare at this given moment of time...i would get the Revel Salon version 1....they are the best looking speakers ever!

LOL the Altec Lansing's brought back memories of the first 6x9's I bought for my Z28 in high school. Man I loved that car.....and it sounded good too!

If I had it to do all over again, I'd still hit that shot.
