Hi!

I am thinking of getting monitor 40's for the fronts and rears, a CS1 for the center and an Onkyo 705 receiver. And I want a good sub to go with this setup. The PSW505 is on sale locally. It has a LFE input that I am looking for and rave reviews.

My question: Is the PSW505 overkill i.e. is it too powerful for this kind of setup? I'm a noob so the answer to this question might be as simple as "Don't turn up the volume on the sub".

Any other sub recommendations to go with my setup will be greatly appreciated also!

1) There is no such thing as overkill regarding a sub
2) Using a Polk sub and overkill in the same sentence is an oxymoron

Seriously, you have nothing to worry about. And we'd love to give you other sub recommendations, but you have to tell us your budget first.

There are subs that are far superior for that price range. Check out the sub forum!

I dont mean the subjective "superior" I mean better low freq. extension and better SPL.

+1

I was using a PSW505 that I bought for $200 on sale from Frys... I kept it all of 2 days because it simply was an under performer by adding almost nothing to my (then) RTi12s. For $350 head over to the sub forum and buy a sub other than Polk
