Hi.
I am on the hunt for a suitable 5.1 system for my small living room.
I currently have:
- Sony STR-DG820
- PS3
- Sony KDL-40XBR2 LCD
Temporary Speakers are:
- 4 Cambridge Soundworks Microworks speakers (FR, FL, SR, SL)
- 1 Bose VSC-10 Center Channel Speaker (I know... bad sounding)
- Sony SAW2500 subwoofer

Clearly, the Bose VSC-10 has got to go (sound really "canny").
The sub isn't as bad as I thought (I have a small living room).
The Cambridge Soundworks speakers are alright but they're just a temporary fix (although they do sound pretty good).

So, because I am returning the Bose, I decided to see what else is available for a little more money. That's when I came about the KEF's and the Polk Speaker Systems.
I am now trying to choose between the KEF KHT2005IIMP ($201.96) or Polk RM6750 ($299.99).
Please let me know if these aren't even worth the purchase.

Or should I just get keep the Cambridge Soundworks and the Sub and get a different Center Channel speaker (within the same $174.99 I paid for)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I tried to buy that KEF system but it keeps saying unavailable. If you can get it, jump on that deal. It used to be $999! $200 is an absolute steal. Even when they had it half priced at $499 it was a steal! $200 is incredible.

I see that polk system on sale at my local Fry's for $199 at least twice a month, so $299 doesn't impress me.

Thanks afrogt!
I did notice that it is currently out of stock. doh!
Being that the case, would you recommend the Polk system or maybe just purchasing a center channel from Cambridge Soundworks (Newton Series II MC155 - $119.99) to compliment the other speakers I currently have. At least for the time being...
Also...
Are the KEF or even the Cambridge Soundworks center channel speakers that much better than the Bose vsc-10 I currently have.
I know tons of people dislike the vcs-10... but I don't think it's as bad as a "cell phone speaker" - like somebody here commented.
It's clearly got it's issues but I have heard worse. Plus I do like the low profile.

Once again, many thanks!!
Cheers!

I bought the Polk RM6750 set from Fry's last month for $199, and I love them. I'm no big audiophile, but they were a vast improvement over my old Sony Dream System speakers. The powered bass will shake my basement if I turn it up too much. I leave it at about 40% for most movie watching, although a lot of people probably want more bass than I do.
