Can some one explain what are the key differences between the XQ and the Q series? Besides the obvious in that they have different cabinet designs and the XQ doesn't have a surround speaker (e.g. dipole).

Is the Q series more close to the Reference series in design and performance?

No. The XQ series is the better series and more close in design to the REFs. I don't have time right now to compare the speakers, but you can do that. And are you talking about the very newest Q series or the older ones? The new Qs just now came out and probably are not available yet or just beginning to be so.

The XQ is the higher end one and they look far more beautiful than the Q or iQ. The XQ bookshelf is unique in that they use a full rubber stopper feet instead of usual small tabs.

Interestingly enough, the new iQ's look like they dropped having a dipole speaker as well.

I wonder if the reference line will follow suit.

Dipoles are for back in the days before Dolby Digital.

Thanks guys. Does any one have the pricing on the XQ series?

I haven't had time to go demo them yet. Just doing some online research first. Also considering the B&W 800 series. PSB Synchrony. And the upcoming Paradigm Ref Studio v5 (hope these are out before Xmas.
