I currently have a JBL EC35 center channel speaker and was wanting to get a pair of main speakers to compliment the center channel. I want the speakers to be bookshelf or wall-mountable. I was hoping to get my hands on a pair of JBL E30's or E50's, but I am unable to find them anywhere (if anyone has a pair for sale in black, let me know)!

Does anyone know what current JBL models replaced the speakers above or know what speakers would sound good with the above mentioned center channel? Thanks!

The Studio L820 is probably the closest thing to a replacement you can find in their line now.

That horizontal monitor line, like the E50, sort of went out of fashion.

The Studio 820 is a 4-way system, but it's not going to be as powerful or as good, IMO.

The E50s are nice speakers. I have a pair as surrounds in a secondary system. I purchased the E50s in fall 2005 prior to JBL discontinuing them.

The L820s, which I have in a system in a small HT room with an LC2, rears, and two 15" subwoofers in large, ported enclosures, are much clearer than E50s.
The L820s have greater clarity than the E50s with well-recorded acoustic rock music.

You might look into the new JBL Studio 190s or 180s that a number of individuals have recently purchased and enthusiastically described.
