Me: "Is there a review coming? Dying to see some numbers. There's some concerns that they don't dig deep & with their size & 500w you'd think they would."

Audioholics "Yes in a couple of months. The concerns appear to be unwarranted. The graph published on their site is NOT max SPL and doesn't include port contribution since RBH measured 2m GP in front of the driver. The unit has 3 rear ports. I guarantee if you place this sub near a back wall it will have plenty of low end output. But we will pull some measurements for sure"

Yeah I saw that.

Everyone on this side always seems to be so negative and critical. Haha.

That makes me feel a lot better about them, if that 500w sub can get down to the high teens, I think that becomes a very good option.

This is purely subjective as I have no scene to back it up, but after playing some test-tone sine-waves, all the way down to 10hz, these things really went crazy. I even only turned on one out of the 4 subs to see what one could do in such a large basement, and I was pleased!

What does RBH have for a warranty on their sub amps? It's an identical amp from what I can tell, so I'd wager it's not some flaky cheap Chinese amp.

Well then 4 should sound a lot smoother and give you a ton of headroom in that space!

Same. 1 year on amp & 5 years on everything else. Even on their flagship SX-1212p/r that Databass said was one of the most powerful subs they have ever tested.

Well if that is the case then I wouldn't worry about it so much. RBH doesn't sell anything that is poorly designed, but it is a bit surprising that it's only a year. Perhaps they have found that if no issues crop up after a year of ownership, then the amp should be good for the long haul.

In most cases that's correct. We always hear when someone has problems, so the question of quality gets amplified (such as the NXG NX-500-BAS). And we don't hear from people that have had no problems for many years. However, a one-year warranty won't instill a lot of confidence in most buyers. I know that the warranty alone tells me I should look elsewhere. Good grief, the BIC PL-200 has the best warranty in the industry (8 years on driver and 5 years on the electronics). What would it cost them to have a 5 year/2 year warranty, which is pretty standard in the industry?

They said you can increase the warranty for a little bit more. Maybe throw them an extra $20/sub for another year or 2 (if you can get them to do 2 more) on the amp

Well, if the AMP is the same one that RBH uses, and I haven't heard a lot of complaints about RBH subs, then I guess that isn't a worry. I guess if people are concern, buy the extra year ( don't believe in extended warranties).
Will look forward to more reports, Viper and some written reviews form the pubs! I would love to get rid of the Klipsch rw12d...

One of my 1010 amps went this year. I bought a replacement from EMP out of warranty. It's an odd size, I doubt I would have been able to find a non oem replacement. You can see pictures of it back in this thread. Someone would have to open their new sub to see if it is the same brand.

It almost becomes smarter, at least if you had 2+ subs, to just buy a single, standalone amp and run wiring through the back amp plate to the subs. Just bypass and not use the plate amp at all. Tons more power, likely cleaner and same price-ish.

Ugh...come on Audioholics!!!

So I just figured out a way to move the center channel onto the top shelf just below the Plasma. I'll take a pic soon!

I've been trying movies, music & tv without using Dynamic EQ on my Denon for a few days. I think I prefer it without Dynamic EQ now. Sure the DEQ added 'weight', but I feel like it did so at the mercy of some midrange and top end clarity at times. IN bass heavy scenes it would be too much in my opinion.

Viper, good news. I think it'll look better and will definitely sound better up there. I need to aim mine a little higher soon. Think I might get the foam pads from PartsExpress to try out. They might look a little nicer than stacked, circular felt pads.

You can adjust its effect with the reference level offset. It can be made more subtle at the 5, 10 or 15 setting.

Because I listen far below reference, it really helps keep the sound "even". And if you listen near reference, DEQ is doing very little.

I'm finding the center channel also adds well to the sound stage in multichannel music use in this setup

I moved the center channel to the top shelf. Honestly, it sounds just as good as before, and the soundstage did not seem to change much, which I found surprising. BUT that does not mean it sounds any WORSE, that's for sure. It looks better now, too.

More detailed impressions to follow soon. So far, all I have to say is (for LFE heavy movies) is HOLY S**T!

My electrician is currently installing another dedicated 20amp main as I type this.

However, I do have all 4 plugged in (but set the gains low), and have been using all 4. It sounds so good.

Considering I have the Kinect in front of the center, that won't be happening.

Or how about on top of the center speaker?
On top of the TV works for most people, but I like my TV higher than most, as can be seen. The Kinect that high up on top of that big of a TV 1) looks terrible to me and 2) doesn't work that well (I've tried it.)

Having it on top of the center channel: 1) not sure how I would tastefully do that and 2) it would block the bottom part of the TV.
