Oh, I get it. Onkyo 606 is on the way with free shipping. It isn't that though, I have no problem paying reasonable shipping. I don't know what shippers these guys (not just audioholics) but they are getting ripped off. Audioholics said they were quoted 388.00 to ship it here (I am almost as far southeast Alaska as you can go) and would give me the shipping for 250.00. I have had much heavier stuff shipped for under a hundred bucks. We have UPS and Fedex here, and UPS ground works wonders.

Where did you order the 606 from? How much. I am in the market for one but they are hard to find at the prices the were at months ago. Not enough in stock.

I got it through Amazon, from Crutchfield, for 399 shipped. I would have loved to find the 340 price they were a few months ago, but of course those retailers wouldn't have sold it to me with free shipping anyway. I was super happy to find it from Crutchfield with free shipping.

Those with EF30Ts are you setting them to LARGE or SMALL? I've tried both, and I'm not sure which I like best. There is definitely more sound coming out of the 8" with them set to large. They don't sound strained by any means. My subwoofer is doing the heavy lifting for the rest of the speakers, but I thought I might enjoy the full dynamic range out of my mains.

I left them set to large for now. Maybe I'll call EMP and see what they say. I wish I had seperate crossover points for each channel, mine only has one, applied to all channels.

Is it easy to mount these EMP Bookshelf EF30 speakers? What kind of mounts do you need?

Everyone that has bought the system, what are your impressions after having them for awhile? I'm still waiting to finish everything up on my remodel so I haven't had a chance to hook everything up.

My HTP-351T system got in last week, but I won't get to audition it until next week. I will post what I think and how it compares to Ascend ID speakers (170 SE 340 SE).

HI

Im looking for some wall mount speakers for my media room. I found some closeout deals on EMP EW25 25-inch really cheap. Any words of wisdom on these. Suggestion for a Center speaker and surrounds?

I have an projector/screen setup
Onkyo 606 AVR
Beginning to replace old HTIB surround sound

Match all the fronts, lay one 25 on its side.

Bookshelves for the rear I recommend the EF30s, they have the same size drivers and tweeters as the 25 inchers. Probably more shared architecture and hardware than is apparent.

They share the same sensitivities. Although the 25 inchers dig a little deeper, you should crossover to the sub before the freq. gets that deep.

I think that would work as a killer setup!

I've got the sub and towers set up from the HTP-351T 5.1 set. My main theater has Ascend 340-SE's and 170-SE's, so I can offer a limited comparison if anyone wants. I was also at CES a few weeks ago and heard some $50K speakers to as well. Getting an entire 5.1 tower set for the price of a speaker cable there makes me feel good!

How does it sound so far? Great! Two towers and the EMP 10s sub make a killer combo. The speakers are less sensitive than my Ascend setup, but once you put power to them, they move. I'll move some of the Ascends around and give some A/B comparisons, as well as a more in-depth review of the 5.1 EMP system.

Also, beyond the sound, EMP is great to work with. I got to put faces to their name at CES, and also I have had numerous e-mail communications with them. Top notch staff, especially to Daren. This guy deals with a lot of big fish, but gives just as much attention to small fish like myself.

Anxiously awaiting your impressions of these speakers. I have used an RBH MC series speaker system in my living room for years now and let's just say that I am very impressed.

There is a mounting screw place on the bookshelf speakers, but just be sure it can handle an 11lb speaker.

Very, very happy with the sound quality/output. Customer service was outstanding. No problems out of the box. bases for towers are sturdy/adequate. construction excellent/no defects. Personally I think they look better without the grills on.

Man for the price and with the reviews I have searched for all over the web I threw down today for the EMP HTP-571T 7.1 speaker system and I purchased a second E10 sub to really get it going. I didnt audition these speakers, but I have 14 days to at home and I only live a few hours from EMP. If these speakers are what I think they are going to be it is one hell of a bargain for $1149 I cant wait for these things to show up.

Presently putting together my first (what feels to me) real home theater system. I just had a great weekend of ordering gear and spending my tax return. Doing my best for the economy. I am going to be running the above speaker system with the following av gear:

Onkyo 806B
Samsung LN-46A630 46"
Samsung BDP 2500
XBox 360

I am pretty sure for my budget that I made some good choices!

I will write a review about this system in a couple of weeks.

PS. Anyone want to buy an Acoustimass 16

I came here after reading that thread and am really surprised I couldn't find any threads on these less than 10 pages back! No one is talking about them here.

$400 a PAIR for these doesn't interest anyone?

Towers
http://emptek.com/e5ti.php
Center
http://emptek.com/e5ci.php

Does anyone think the matching center is a bit underpowered? Seems you would have to run a higher crossover just for the center, for example 80Hz for the towers and 100Hz for the center, which is not ideal.

It's the same concern I have for the Infinity Primus P362 / PC350 combo. The center looks underpowered. Amazing for the price, but the EMP Impressions look leagues better. What we don't know is which sounds better.

Infinity Primus P362 + PC350
$450

EMP E5Ti + E5Ci
$575

Also the Primus are front ported which is a big plus for me, as I can push them back closer to the wall.

I have both the EMP Impressions and Infinity Primus sets ordered. After shipping the prices are near identical - $540-575 for the front three.

The only way I'll be able to find out the true differences is by testing them myself.

I assume I can simply hook them all up and switch between speakers A/B on the fly?

I considered them, but there was so little information around about them. Not to mention that how hard the Audioholic guys were pushing them turned me off. Although I don't question their objectivity, with so many other seemingly similar speakers available at comparable prices (or cheaper), I had a hard time accepting that it was a don't miss deal.

For $30 more per speaker, I went with RC-30s. But I'd be interested to hear about the EMPs and Infinitys compare.

I think I'll have to disagree that there are a lot of seemingly similar speakers available at comparable prices (or cheaper). I think these two in question represent the best values in new (not shopping used) front three speaker setups.

The Energy RC-30 ($250) and RC-LCR ($300) cost more at the lowest prices I could find, coming in at $800 for the set (Vanns). It's still a great value, but puts them slightly out of range for fair comparison, at least until the EMP Impressions initial offering price is over.

Infinity Primus 362s, Polk Monitor 70s, and Energy C-500s are the exact same price, at least for the front speakers. Boston Acoustics CS-226s are also the same price and seem comparable, but maybe they are not.

You may be right -- the EMPs may be a clear cut above the rest. That's why I qualified what I said, I don't know, maybe I am missing something. But what I was getting at is that there are very very few people (at least on the interweb) who can speak to the quality of the EMPs. Not only are there very few people, but there were, to me, red flags around those people. Meanwhile, there are many satisfied customers with Infinitys, Polks, and Energys.

I called emp today cause I still hadn't gotten a ship notice and the lady said they should have sent one but we couldn't find it. Anyway they shipped on monday and they should be here on friday. I'll try to see if I can write something up that's useful over the weekend. Course that won't help anyone trying to buy before the promo runs out tomorrow. I'll be comparing them to some klipsch rvx-54's so the difference should be VERY different. Starting to get excited!

The sale is actually not over tomorrow, as it has been extended for people who are waiting for more in-depth reviews...i am really looking to get a set of nice speakers (as that is the only thing that holding me back at this point), and was hoping for the price that these would be worth it...i really hope someone can post a good review either the end of the week or the weekend

They shipped next day and arrived in 3. So, 4 days from the day I ordered...not bad at all.

Unfortunately I won't be able to test them out until after we move and have everything set up again...possibly next weekend.
