That stand looks nice!, I just purchased a new one similar to that except the middle sections are flipped. Its tough to find one that can accommodate the E56ci...

That was one of my motivations for getting the smaller center channel speaker...and it has plenty of Umph!

I watch A LOT of movies, so the center channel for me is more of the big player than the L/R (thought ive turned into a little music snob lately) so I was going nuts finding a nice 3 way center that would fit in the 22x8x15 space where I have my center now.. I would not even look at the L/R if there was not a matching center that would fit to go with it..

Then I just said "AHH hell with it.. itll fit nicely on top of my stand and fill up the 8" gap between the stand and the TV thats been driving me nuts, now I won't need to remount the TV wall bracket tongue.gif"

Heres a before picture for you to reference after I get my EMP speakers setup in the next day or so when they get here (though it looks like my pre-amp won't be here till thursday frown.gif gonna have to rock em on my HK AVR1700 till I can hook them up to my AMP)

Edit: and you bet your ass the Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and Dave Matthews Tim Reynolds at Radio city will be the things I sit and listen to over and over.. I've listened to these blu-rays more times than I care to admit.. so they are a good reference material for me and to see what I like/dont like

Yeah I wanted the big center as well, I will probably get it this summer when they hopefully have a sale. Unless you spend big bucks, it's just easier to put the center on top, which is what I will do also. I will post a picture when I get it all set up.

And those are great choices for reference material, I am a fan of Super 8 also.

Good decision. That will look great in that gap and really make the entire thing looks much nicer. What stand is that?

If you like Dave Matthews then check out Ryan Adams. Especially Ashes & Fire and Heartbreaker albums. Both are great for different instruments, seperation, depth and width, etc.

I measured the front left, right, center, & then averaged all three. The measurements also include my sub crossed over at 80, so the bass response will reflect the sub & not the EMP's. Just wanted to show the mid to high range of the speakers in my room. The measurements were taken at the mlp & a 90 degree orientation. Basically the same way Audyssey takes it's measurements.

What EQ do you have? If you have MultEQ XT or XT32 I'd be interested to see how Audyssey looks in your room compared to no EQ.

Looks like you could definitely use some EQ in your room. Not too bad, but the top end rolls off quickly. Basically from the x-over and up. Midrange looks pretty darn good except the small dip from about 350-600hz. Being close to 6db down at 375-400 is pretty concerning though. That's weird.

The tweeter in your room is 2db down at one octave from where it comes in (3kHz), but from 5Khz it goes down 6db in that span of one octave. That's a 1st-order slope basically! That looks very odd...It sort of resembles a sort of a large off-axis measurement. Are you sure the mic & everything was set up properly?

Yeah that's what I came to realize about the center and finding a stand. Unless you want to pay $1200+ for a stand to fit the center and look nice, you're pretty much SOL. I think it looks nice on top of a stand though if done right. It also brings it up a tad higher due to the e55ti's being taller than average.

I'm a little concerned about that too ousooner2. I'm going to go back & make sure my calibration file was loaded correctly. It appears that it wasn't. I don't think there should be that much roll off. I do have Multi X32 & I do know it does help. Once I get everything figured out, I'll update.
It's Mardi Gras here, so it might take a while.

Quit lookin' at graphs and enjoy the speakers. You could measure my setup and show me all kinds of questionable graphs and measurements, doesn't change how good they sound. Isn't that what counts, not graphs and charts? tongue.gif

Unless, along with these measurements, you're saying they sound crappy. In which, case, that's another story.

Of course, I got it modified with the TK-427, which cheeks it up another, maybe, 3 or 4 quads per channel.

Very true! I'm one that will always say graphs and measurements aren't everything, but they can help identify many problems if needed (and positives for recommending the speakers).

I know what you guys are sayin. I just had to rib you a bit. In actuality, even if my setup sounded great, if someone showed me some weird reading, it would bother me a bit. Lol.

Rather than start a new thread...anyone recommend a budget reciever with decent power, 5.1 and room correction? Don't need AirPlay, 3d, etc.

Definitely don't make any conclusions on sound that early (unless good conclusions of course lol jk). It'll take a bit to get your placement right, tune/EQ if you're going to do that, etc. Congrats and hope you like them. I'm sure you'll be amazed at the finish and "look" of them for their price. Oh I got myself int he mindset that i will hate them at first.. Some people say break in is a buncha BS, but every speaker ive owned for home theater or otherwise has always came to life after some good listening time on them..

I can say with 100% certainity to me that my HTD's once they broke in (got about 40 hours of moderate volume use) they sounded much better.. even my wife commented at how much better certain thigns sounded that we listend to frequently

I don't expect to do any critical listening, just see if I can get them up and looking pretty and maybe pop on a song or two.

I forgot you had the HTD level 2's. That will be a good comparison to see just how far ahead the e55ti's are biggrin.gifcool.gif

I'm one that thinks break-in is WAY over exaggerated on most forums. I'm sure t/s parameters change slightly and moreso for large xmax/xmech drivers, but it doesn't take long. These drivers are moving THOUSANDS of times per minute. I'm one that will always believe (until I see some reputable proof denying it) that our ears adhere to sounds and changes also over time. I KNOW FOR A FACT this has been proven. Even without that previous statement, look at all the speaker auditions and look at how people's opinions of what they're hearing change with time or even visual aspects. Combine that with room interactions, our individual ear issues (ind. equal loudness curve if you will), etc and that's a heck a mess of things that could be the reason for a change in perceived sound. Again I'm not saying speaker break-in isn't real. I've seen t/s parameters change. Some drivers I would think are more susceptible to this. I'm just saying our perception, complete auditory system and even our individual feelings as we grow accustomed to something could be an equal or larger reason for these changes. Works out great for the manuf. too as their return period just happened to slip by as you were waiting to see if they changed enough for you to like them lol. Sneaky

Hopefully someone got through that and understood where I'm coming from lol. I'm interested to see what you think Shady. I was awestruck at the look of them alone compared to whats out there under $1500-2000 smile.gif

No pictures sorry.. Took me longer than expected to unpack the damn things and quickly hook them up..

While It was only 15 minutes of listening my first impressions are mostly good, given the EQ hasnt been re-ran for these speakers yet..

They have a lot of bass compared to my little bookshelves, it sounds good and tight. I won't make to many comments as the eq was setup for my other speakers but they do sound good..

However I am a little concered, but who knows maybe its an EQ issue, the right speakers tweeter has a hiss to it i guess you could say..the left side sounds great but the right side highs sound distorted.. it sounds like a shhhhhhhh sound over vocals and loud insturments.. I noticed it pretty much right away.. the highs just don't seem as loud and clear as the left side... going to run the EQ and see if it clears up, then try swapping L/R side speakers and see if its inherent to that channel (meaning not the speaker, or if I notice it on the left side.

Also there is deffinately a little resonance with these speaker, its pretty noticeable to me, might see if I can find a way to reduce it.

hi to everyone,

i am from the UK. i was fortunate enough to have secured a set of these fine speakers consisting of E55Ti towers, E5ci center, E5bi bookshelves and ES10i sub three weeks ago. I was able to get them when i was looking at ebay for speakers and the dealer who brought to the UK were clearing their stocks. These speakers are totally unheard off from my neck of the woods. when i saw them in ebay, i was thinking of white van speakers. they advertised them under destination audio. i have to do some research from the web as the stated RRP of £2200 seems very high for speakers. so the search directed me to EMP Tek and to the various reviews from audioholics and to the EMP forum.
By the way i paid £700 for the lot. i took a gamble purchasing them just relying on various good review of the speakers as demoing them is out of the question.

i have a set of wharfedale pacific pi speakers consisting of pi 40 towers, pi 20 towers and pi center. they were very good sounding speakers and also sort of neutral with a very good soundstage and bottom end. These is what i have before purchasing the EMP's. Good thing my gamble paid off. not only do they sound very nice but they really look sexy as well. the sound is very clear and very dynamic as i like my music loud. these speakers are a notch above the wharfies in detail from the highs and mids and punchy mid bass but lost at the bottom end. i am pairing them with a denon 3313 av reciever. so far i am delighted with these speakers.
