Figured I'd close out my prior issue by confirming that the tweeter was in fact not connected. Discovered this once EMP sent me a replacement tweeter.

Everything sounds good, now just need to get the mic boom to properly calibrate.

^ Good to hear

Can't say I'm happy with Accessories4Less right now. I called them 2 weeks ago, during the hours that they are open and nobody answered. Left a message. Haven't received a return call yet. Called again today...definitely open....no answer. Left another message. My warranty is up on the 18th and if they try to say I'm out of warranty I'll drive there and burn the damn place down just for being a shady company. I've left 3 messages now, one of those being an hour ago and haven't received a single call, e-mail, etc yet.

So you've narrowed your tweeter problem down to the AVR? You're high frequencies were messed up right?

I just ordered a XV15... Decided I didnt want to spend that much on a VTF-15H. I can't wait to get rid of this garbage sub I have now.

Nope haha. It's either the SPL meter or the AVR though (or possibly the Audyssey mic I guess; I don't think it's the mic due to the italicized problem). I guess I could go use the SPL meter on my brothers e55's and see what reading I get. If I get the same then it's likely a faulty SPL meter on the higher frequencies. If it reads higher dB's on his then I know it's my AVR/mic or speakers.

Something worth mentioning because I'm not sure if I've said it before...it boosts the highs on the bookshelves too. I'll have a look when I get home and take pics, but I believe it boosts them a lot just like the e55's and e56. I wouldn't think all 5 tweeters would be defective lol.

With Audyssey turned on (or even aud. flat) it's sounds great. With it off....it sounds VEEERY rolled off on the top end. VERY dull. Almost like the tweeters aren't even on. It sounds like you put a few blankets over the speaker. Now it's possible I've gotten used to the slightly raised/flattened treble due to Audyssey, but when I had my Yamaha 663 and didn't have any EQ on them I don't remember them sounding anywhere near this dull....and while your ears can adjust, I don't think the adjustment would be that vast.

Edit: After looking at their return policy (if they ever decide to pick up the damn phone) it looks like I have to pay for return shipping for a defective product. Ridiculous in my opinion. I get it if they were to get it and nothing was wrong, but if they find something then they should credit you the shipping costs. It's not my fault your product failed. mad.gif

It is a nice sub. The VTF-15H is only 80 bux more than the XV15.

I think when you get in touch with EMP, you will be suprised by their customer-friendly approach! As pointed out, most ID speaker companies have found that free shipping both ways is too much of a drain on profits....however, I would be really suprised if they don't find a way to compensate you for any return shipping if indeed the speaker is defective!

He is talking about accessories4less not Emp. I agree that Emp has great customer service! They handled a tweeter issue I had to perfection!

Guys, need some opinions. Looking for a set of bookshelf speakers for a 2.1 set up in my bedroom, using a Klipsch Synergy 10 inch sub. Music and TV only. Willing to spend up to 500/pr. Going to replace a pair of Polk M40s, which I never really did take a liking to! Some people say the Polk monitors are too forward, but I have never been pleased with the lack of accurate bass!
Since I own and really like EMP speakers, I will certainly consider the EMP impression bookshelves, which several on this thread have said are very good. Also, I have a friend who has the Ascend Acoust CMT340, which this summer could be had for just a tad over 500. Those are oustanding...
But if you were willing to spend up to 500/pr, which speakers would you consider? Posting this in the EMP thread since we all have a common bond, we really like our EMP speakers and all have a similar point of reference for comparison!

Don't worry about bass content since you are planning on directing the bass to a subwoofer. I've never heard any of the models you mention so I would just suggest that you go listen to some bookshelf speakers. I would feel comfortable ordering in the Impression bookshelves just because I already have a track record with the products and because I could send them back if dissatisfied. There is no subsitute for hearing the speakers in your own room.

I'd like to mention that I STILL haven't received a call back, e-mail or anything from A4L about my AVR. What a great company.

Good point. I can try Denon. Not sure how it'll work since they'll need the information from A4L I'm sure, but we'll see. They probably won't just take my word for it that it's under warranty until tomorrow

Never thought of that. I don't put anything on a credit card, but maybe my bank can do something. I know PayPal can do stuff like that too, but only up to like 30 days after the purchase.

Yeah. If I have to I'll get my call logs from AT&T to them and show them to Denon. Not exactly the kind of company you want to associate with if you're a large corp. like Denon

Haha yeah it seems so! If I needed some bookshelves I'd jump on 'em! Beautiful looking and I'm sure they sound damn good. I'm just amazed they've been up this long. Not saying Wharfedale isn't 'known', but it seems that if it's not Klipsch, Ascend, etc etc then it's just a little harder to sell as people don't know the model's as well.
