It would be normal temperature if it were a class AB amp, but since it's class D at 70c I thought I would like to ask.

I didn't know that the amp had a switch to select voltage. I have never seen that on a plate amp before.

That is correct.

Yes, I am going to JTR 228's for my LCR's and DIY for surrounds.

For now I will keep my living room Emptek setup which is the same as what I am selling, but I may go DIY there also.

3 - JTR 228's LCR (game room)
4 - DIY Sound Group V-8 Coaxials in slanted boxes (game room)
4 - PSA Triax's (game room)

Lol just a slight difference in price lol. Pair of 228's = Entire EMP 5.0 lol. Nice though! Seems like there's a nice following and people that really enjoy those JTR's. I'd love to try the DIY Seos speakers or something of that nature when I get a dedicated theater room. Let us know your thoughts when you get them!! Pics...of course ,are required biggrin.gif

What is it about JTR speakers that make them so polarizing!? Seems like everything there is a thread and someone recommends the JTR's, the thread get heated real quick.

JTR is an amazing brand with spectacular performance! Same with Seaton. The value (even though they are not cheap) is the best on the market for most bang for your buck.

Why are threads getting heated? What way do you mean that?

I've seen a few threads like that and I think he means it just becomes a 'why choose JTR when you can DIY for 1/3 the price" type thread. Just JTR vs DIY community battle is all. I'd love to hear some of these large cone area, high efficiency setups one day. Seems like it'd be great for a dedicated theater/music room if it's on the larger side

Yeah, they are not cheap!! I thought about the 212's also but can't justify that much.

The EmpTeks really are great speakers. They are not able to keep up with my subs though, which is understandable, I have 3 powersound Triax's. When playing at loud levels the Emptek are compressing/distorting.

Playing at levels under -10 they sound fine.

Where are you guys with 55Ti towers setting you crossovers? Audyssey always sets mine to 40 and I've been using 60. Any benefit to using 80?

60 is a more reasonable x-over point than 40 (unless you dedicated amps). I use 80 as my x-over. This allows for a little more headroom in your amplifier. It really depends on your setup & acoustics though.

I use 80. Of course I'd like to see what happens when I set it to 60 vs. 80 or above that in something like REW (real-time). With a larger space like mine, I'd like a little more headroom so 80hz for me. Sounds better to my ears also. I wish you could step in 5hz increments, but oh well.

At 100, in my room and to my ears, there's too much of a midbass prominence and it sounds unnatural.

So it sounds like there really isn't a set answer it is just based on user preference and what room they're in

I'm using 80 as my cross over. I think 60 would also work if you wanted to go that way. I'm not really a fan of going up to 100, you may start to run into some localization issues at that point.

I would assume they ran out of e1010i cabs or wanted to try something new. My guess would be a single 12 sub. Personally, I like the look of the dual 10". More cone area than a single 12" too. Unless it's a 400+ watt, high xmax single 12" then I'd much rather keep my e1010i

My only knock on the 1010 is it's height, a little too big for me to put it below my screen! So I had to put it off to the right by the right. To balance it out, I added another in the back left.
