Thanks so much for all of your input. I love all of the suggestions and have been looking into all of them.
I guess I have a few questions...
I like the emptek suggestion...but I am weary for two reasons
1)Size - does a bigger speaker mean better sound?
2)Comments that they have not been proven
I am also curious since the price is around the same as the Energy speakers suggested...how do they compare. That is the the emptek HTP-551 vs the Energy C-300.
That said. How do both of these setups compare to the insignia bookself speakers suggested? I went to best buy at lunch to feel them(the display was broke so I didn't get a listen) they felt pretty solid, but wanted $90/pair, which sorta kills the "budget speaker" idea. Since doing the math I might save $100 or so over the Empteks and the energy's suggested.
I forgot the nanostats 5.1 on vanns...I found several...they look small how would they compete to the other suggestions around the same price point?
I want to reemphasize that my room is 20x20x20valted
Do I need to match the quality of my center channel with the rest of the speakers? For example, I get the insignias for say $50/pair on sale and then spend $300 on a center since in movies thats your #1 most important speaker, or so I hear. Would it be off balance?
Finally....how much better is the Onkyo sr606 over the TX-SR575? Personally I dislike silver, so I don't know if it's even an option...but would the srs606 with the speaker choices I am looking at really matter all that much? wouldn't that money be better spent on better speakers?
whew thanks so much again for you suggestions....I am learning so much
