Soundstage Cinemas http://www2.visions.ca/catalogue/cat...9;&menuLevel=2

I currrent have full polk audio RTi suround sound but have reno's the living room to put the TV over the fireplace mantle and would like a center channel speaker thats not so bulky at the back something 5" deep at max. I've also looked at the monitors audio 225 and 250's which are probably better speakers but have not auditioned any of them an dthought to ask for some advice 1st before going into the local stores. Also with either of these speakers would it sound ok wih a different center channel from the l/r and backs ?

Thanks in advance.

I should have also mentioned that my HT set up is 95% for tv, movie and 360 with 5% being music listening. Room isnt very large (15x15) but ceiling is vaulted to the 2nd floor. Price does play a factor but at the same time I wouldnt want a garbage set of seakers because I may just end up changing the whole set up over to a thinner profile like either of the above.
Cheers !

I hope they are returnable without prejudice since, I assume, you cannot hear them before you buy them.

[3" woofers? No useful specs?]

They appear to be the equivalent of I.D. "white van" specials.

Low price plus lots of drivers usually equals junk.

Four 3" PolyMica Infusion cones
Mid-Range Size: Not Applicable
Tweeter Size: 1" Soft Dome Tweeter
Power Capability: 150 Watts
Frequency Response: 70Hz - 20kHz
Sensitivity: 90dB
Cross-Over Point: Unspecified
Magnetically Shielded: Yes
Includes Wallmounts: Yes
Colour: Black
Parts Warranty: 5 Years
Labour Warranty: 5 Years

Main issue i have with these is that it won't have much bass output. Being that it only starts at 70Hz is great for a center channel, I like it a little lower myself but bass response will be an issue.

Xbox Live: ShadyFusion23

If you're shopping at Visions talk the audio manager into giving you a great deal on remaining KEF iQx speakers; they're one of the few remaining dealers in Canada.

are the kef iqx speakers close in size to the monitors and the soundstage ones ? Also if having more speakers as mentioned above usually means poor sound would that mean the monitore radius 225/250's are not of good quality also ? THis info will save me time and headache in advance.
Thanks.

Please note I did not say numerous drivers mean low quality sound! However, when a significant number of drivers are in a "inexpensive" speaker it usually means it will have issues. As you add more "ways" (ie 2 way, 3way etc) you increase the complexity of the crossover and thus cost in parts and development, now this is technically a 2 way )tweeter and multiple mid-woofers), although the crossover can be pretty simple you still have the fact there are 5 drivers and when you consider markup for a consumer electronics through the supply chain it means the drivers are dirt cheap. This does not mean inexpensive drivers can't be "molded" into a great speaker but it requires serious expertise and great development and it is unlikely that will be found in a brand nobody here has heard of.

Bottomline the chances are good this speaker isn't worth the money, but there is always the exception to any rule, this speaker would just be one that I wouldn't even consider if I could not fully audition it.
