Yeah, no doubt the Polks are great for the money. I've seen the R50's on Frys.com for as little as $50 each. That's not too shabby. But the PA-8F's are a much better speaker all around. At least I think so?

The website says "35HZ -20KHZ", but is that the standard +/- 3db? 6db? 5000db?

Good question and I have to say I honestly don't know? It probably is the usual standard plus or minus 3-6db. However, if you want to be certain you may wanna call Eric from Sound Distributors at 800-691-6914 to see if he can confirm this?

I'll report back when I hear back.

Another quick one: is the cherry finish vinyl, foil, veneer, or solid wood? Does it look okay?

the cabinet is wood veneer. it is a very nice rich cherry color with a piano black top. elegant looking. matches my wood floors and entertainment center perfectly. the PA line all have the piano finish black tops!

I've had these for a couple weeks now, at first , i liked the sound from my BIC DV64's slightly better, coming out of my 15 yr. old Kenwood , but i got my Marantz SR7001 and hooked it up today , and wow, what a difference in sound.. It took a better and more powerful receiver to wake these things up, and WOW ! Clean , great highs, and great lows. These speakers sound Much better , than most speaker systems i listened to , and at less than half the cost of those "other" speaker systems. If you want to spend $600+ for a name, go right ahead , I don't need a name, Just great sounding speakers..And here they are!!

I couldn't agree with you more. The PA-8F's do sound great. A good receiver never hurts either. I had Acoustech horn loaded speakers prior to the PA-8F's and the PA-8F's blow them away as far as all around sound goes. The Acoustech's were harsh and bright sounding but the PA-8F's are exactly as you described. They're clean with great lows, mids and crisp highs. For the money I truly feel they can't be beat.

Well, I took the plunge.

I figure that for $250 shipped for the pair, that the risk is small. Can't be any worse than the Panasonic speakers I have now.

Just need to wait for the Denon 1910 to come out next month and I'll be set.

In all seriousness, the PA-8F's will make your Panasonic speakers sound like tin cans. There's no comparison. And if you pair them with the Denon 1910 they're gonna sound phenomenal. You just wait and see.

I too thought what the hell I'll try'em, after hooking them up, I again figured what the hell. Bought 4 more to complete my surround sound. Best bang for the buck, that's for sure.
Hey Movie Guy ever upgrade your sub or surrounds? And I also was going to start a thread for the speakers, how'd you start a thread?

Save your fingers girls There`s no need to flood about PA-8F, let`s basically say loud and all together : PA-8F kick asses ! They are so good, that my English seems to be too bad to describe it I think I could even have a huge problem to describe them in my native language

Nah, I haven't upgraded my center or sub yet. I never wanted to upgrade my surrounds. I love my surrounds. They're Boston Acoustics and they sound awesome! But eventually I do wanna get the matching Cherry PA-6C and the the PA-120 sub. Hopefully soon? As far as starting a thread goes all you have to do is select the "Forums" tab at the top of this page. Then scroll down to the "Audio Area" then select "Speakers". You'll now see a small black rectangular shaped button on the left side not too far from the top of the page that says "New Thread". Just click on that button and your good to go!

what do you think of the in wall surrounds. they are polks. i think they are pretty good used as surrounds. dont think i'd ever consider them as mains, but for surrounds they are more than adequate.

Mine are coming today.

If I'm feeling up to it, maybe some unboxing photos?

thanks alot! yes the in walls work beautifully as surrounds. and yes the center's woofers are actually silver color, the same as the PA-120 sub's woofer.

My PA-8Fs came.

They're heavy, substantial, and seem better-built than the set of Infinity P362 that I was considering. Don't know what they sound like because I don't have a receiver.

I really, really want to buy my receiver now, but I'm waiting for the Denon AVR-1910 to at least be announced. Want to get either the new AVR or a nice discount on the old.

But the wait...it's horrible!
