I play videogames with a a guy named Jason, that had his legs blown off by a IED in Iraq and can't really do much, though he's still funny as hell. He had his place robbed a few days ago, took pretty much everything. I was skyping with him yesterday and he didn't have insurance for some stuff etc. Anyways, I bought him a new PS4 through amazon and had it shipped there (which was easy as hell, will be there monday morning) but I need to get him a card to buy the game we play together and amazon won't sell me one. dumb eh?

Anyways I'll paypay you the money, all you'd need to do is order the code from amazon and give me the code
This is the link for the card I'd want :

Thanks to whoever can help me out, I'll be checking back through the day.
That was very cool of you to do. I am really pissed off that someone would rip his stuff off being a disabled veteran. I just hate this world sometimes. I am a Amazon prime member so if you need help, I will help you out.

Ya, its pretty crazy. I've been playing games with him for almost 17 years now. The IED thing happened about 5 years ago or so. Just one day he didn't come online for almost 1.5 years. He just laughs it off saying, "well I guess they needed it more than me" but I know he had pretty much no income at all.

Anyways, Jaimectrs gave me a code and won't let me pay him back, so I matched and donated the 50$ to my nephews cancer care drive he's doing right now for his school, under Jamiectrs's screen name lol.

RMK had the same offer and thats very appreciated from everyone.

I still can't for the life of me figure out how amazon would let my buy a PS4, ship it to Texas but won't let me buy the PSN card to ship with it... because I'm from Canada.... lol thats bonkers.

As much as I don't like thieves, I like the people who knowingly buy stolen goods less. If there wasn't a market there would be a lot less theft.

Glad to see your request had been answered.

So, is anyone else going to RMAF? I booked my flight this weekend and I'm looking forward to hearing the 210RT's (not that I'm in the market ) and the full HT setup. It will be interesting to roam around and hear various offerings at the show. It's been quite a while since I have heard speakers other than my own. Hope I don't fall in love with some $150K speakers with $75K amps and $10K cables.

On another note, I had a new friend over for a first time demo this weekend and I went back to the Scuba Steve demo disk along with some of the newer cool BR demos. True to form and due to a more than willing victim, I got a little crazy with the volume and pushed the 215's really hard (up to like +10 ref). I was listening for any signs of distortion from the 15's on bass heavy scenes and they held their composure while sounding awesome. I did not check the Behringer for clipping but I must have been tickling the clip lights at that volume. In any case, I have been listening to movies and music at -5 to - 10 levels for a while now and it was fun to show off and push the system a bit. It's really funny to see the reaction of someone who has never heard/felt sound like that. Atmos/DSU was a very cool addition to the movie demos but I had to kill the ceiling speakers for the music demos. I really do not like DSU for MC channel music. I'm hoping to get Auro back running with the pending upgrade to my Marantz processor that will allow me to use all 4 ceiling speakers with Atmos/DUS and Aruo/AuroMatic. When I first installed Auro it did a job with MC music and I'm hoping I still feel that way with the FH/RH speaker designations. Any other takes on this?

FWIW, I really have been enjoying DSU for music.
I have the ability to turn down, or turn off the ceiling speakers uniquely for each source with the Denon x7200wa AVR and for multi channel stereo I can choose floor, front, or ceiling as options as to which speakers play for multichannel audio.

For multichannel stereo music I do turn down the ceiling speakers about 4dB - because it is otherwisse a little weird to have that sound coming from overhead - at -4dB it's a nice fill - to fill up the room with sound.

Several pages back, some were looking for theater logos (DTS, Dolby, THX, etc). Here is a page with high resolution images, that can be downloaded and printed: http://www.demo-world.eu/logos-posters/ ...sorry for the repost, if someone already has shared link.

To make the prints look better/unique, you can try using metallic paper that some online print services provide. Otherwise, make sure to use photo paper (luster, glossy, or matte).

Anyone have a high-res JTR logo file available so I can photoshop it onto these templates, with Jeff's blessings, of course? Also, any idea what font JTR is? I'm thinking of designing a logo for a certain sub ... @Jeff Permanian ?

Look forward to seeing you. Since you are going to be there Saturday, let's have a JTR party at 7:15 in our room. Dlbeck will be there and I think a few others. Jaimectrs, do you want to come, too?

I have a high resolution Adobe Illustrator file of the JTR Logo. I'll check with Jeff to see if it can be given to anyone. Maybe Jeff should just sell his own theater signs.

Edit: I added a low resolution example.

If you have the Atmos demo Blu-ray, there is a preview of the movie On Any Sunday, The Next Chapter. Jeff will be bringing the movie to RMAF and we can watch it on Saturday evening.

Slanted 8's

I haven't posted in a while, but I wanted to share some pictures of the Slanted 8 HT's I just put up in the theater.

I bought them a couple of years ago, but I never got a chance to put them up. They are unfinished because I was going to paint them to match my theater. I am glad I never did because the raw birch looks awesome. My wife wants me to attempt to stain them to match the trim in the theater. We will see how that turns out.

They sound awesome, of course. We listened to the intro where all the balls drop at the beginning of Art of Flight and even my wife had a smile on her face.

Here they are as well as some pictures of the 228HT's behind the screen wall.

Looks good unfinished. My only suggestion is to move the side surrounds to be at a 90 degree angle with your seating.. You will get a lot better separation that way between your sides and your rears.

I was limited by the entry door to the theater that is not visible on the left. The side surrounds will be in line with my second row of seating.

Humm, I actually have my Atmos (ceiling speakers) running 2db hot. We sat in the back row for John Wick and from there, we were a foot closer to the ceiling speakers. Both the wife and I liked the increase in CS volume from the back row and so I bumped the levels of the CS's up 2db. When playing MC music with DSU engaged it sounds very unnatural. Cutting the levels 4db (or I guess in my case 6db) might mitigate that to a degree but I doubt it. To each his own ...

Apparently the PSN cards are tagged as a "high risk" item. I'm assuming lots of purchases are made with fraudulent cards. I order from Amazon pretty much daily and I tried to order a PSN card for a relative and it asked me to enter my account password and CC number again, even though I was still logged in and had made a purchase about ten minutes prior. It's never done that before.

Those videos are awesome! Thanks!
I was late getting home for supper because I was watching the Digital Show and Tell video. It is very well done. I realized I can replicate the entire signal chain and view the analog output on my oscilloscope. I found that the entire video dialog is also in print with pictures.

Interesting fact from the video: In comparison to their noise floor, most cassette tapes have a bit depth of about 5-6 bits and "could reach as deep as 9 bits in perfect conditions." I was listening to a cassette yesterday in my Suburban. I've had the cassette for about 23 years now. Now that I think about it, I think it was the last cassette I purchased before transitioning to CD.

It was illuminating to see the perfect reconstruction/anti-aliasing filters in action.
I've heard people say before that reconstruction was perfect below Nyquist, but I guess I had to see it to really get it.

I could definitely hear Windows sample rate conversion when operating in shared mode, compared with apps that support exclusive mode at the source sample rate.
I guess the built-in Windows sample rate conversion is just a low quality implementation.
I'm anxious to try comparing a high quality 44->48 conversion to see if I can hear the difference. (Not suggesting that I would.)

Hey guys, has anyone ever tried to hook-up their JTR's for 2 channel Audio using high-end pre-amps and amplifiers like Mc's , Classe , Krell's etc... ? I know it's been done with the S8 but I was wondering if anyone has tried with the Noesis series. Thanks !
