Any comments from 7702 users on hiss or noise, since Noesis' high sensitivity ?
I have the 7702 (you can get them in the US for <$1K), not the MkII and even with pro amps and the gain turned up there is no hiss from the speakers.

Opinions are not facts.

Under 1K.

Good to hear.
Thing is I dont want to spend big on a processor.
Wanted to , but it looks like I will keep my Lyngdorf powerDAC amp .....and I have traded in a Linn DS that should be sold.
It will stay however.
I cannot listen music without it seems. So sweet.

For those of you with a non riser setup. How far off the ground are you mounting the rear and side surrounds in the 7.4 Atmos setup? Looks like on the Dolby diagram the rear and side surrounds are slightly above ear level?

I really wanted to order the subwoofer during the Cyber Monday sale but figured Jeff wouldn't want to store them for 16 plus months and I sure don't want to move a 225 power speaker anymore than I have to.

Beast, I visited Asheville, Knoxville, and Greenville in September and ended up liking the Greenville downtown the best. Knoxville seemed way behind in developing their downtown and Asheville appear to be more oriented toward tourists then people living in the downtown. But the area around Asheville is beautiful. I wouldn't mind having a future summer camp house somewhere on the French Broad River to escape the hottest part of the summer in Greenville.

I'll eventually start a thread in the Home Theater forum as I get closer to building.
Glad you settled on where you did! Asheville is still blowing up and yes, definitely touristy, but there are plenty of spots within 5 minutes of town that you can escape every bit of it Trust me, I've been here my whole life

Not really - especially considering the price. I just wanted to make sure you weren't expecting some functionality that the amps don't provide.

Looking forward to retiring to downtown Greenville, SC in early 2017 and finally building a real home theater. The downtown area is booming so lots of new expensive condos and townhouse are under construction or in planning. This will give me an opportunity to make some design modifications for dedicated home theater room.

Without a final room design the only thing settled so far is wanting an all JTR Atmos speaker system. Most likely a 9.2.2 layout with three 212 HTR's, 8 Single 8HT's, and two Orbit Shifter LFu's or four Captivator 1400's.

Can a condo home theater be soundproofed enough to avoid disturbing the neighbors or should I upgrade to a townhouse with no shared walls or even a house with a basement home theater? After spending a bunch of money I would hate not being able to fully use a home theater due to worrying about the Police showing up with a noise complaint.

I figure this is the best place to ask after seeing some of the "modest" speakers system some of you have installed.
Get a house...with a 9-foot ceiling basement, if possible...with a square space of 12Wx25L at minimum.

Aside from the noise issue, builders can be very difficult to work with when you want to make modifications, especially the kind needed for soundproofing...mainly because of the logistics. Also, the HOA costs on a condo are ridiculous.

No soundproofing will contain HT volume levels enough with any of those proposed setups in a condo...you'll end up utilizing 20-30% of their performance. A townhouse, you could get away with more...have friends that get away with pretty loud volumes and they have no soundproofing either...I'm sure if you did some serious room-within-room type soundproofing, you and your neighbor could be very happy...but even those friends want to move to a house to really let their systems rip....

Love getting new toys. I think I've asked but I can't remember... are you going to use something to boost the bass? Otherwise you will have level matched bass and as we all know that is unacceptable.

It's been a few hours...surely you have completed installation, calibration, frustration, and finally celebration by now.

This will be one killer setup.

Agree with this but if you can get more than 12'W...do it. I have 12' in width and it works but 14 or 15 would be the best. It keeps the surrounds far enough away not to hotspot especially with Atmos calling for them to be at (or close to) ear level. You can't do that with 12'W...they will be too close.

If I know what that meant then I could answer the question! I'm strictly a plug and play guy. All that EQ, Dirac, miniDSP, etc., goes right over my head. I do have 8 18" subs on standby should they be needed.

Not only did all the JTR's show up today but so did the 4 JBL 227c with back can for ceiling Atmos.

I am completely overwhelmed at this point. A good place for me to start is by getting everything down the basement and then I'll walk around in circles wondering what to do.

I just remembered that Michael is taking care of you so you will be more than fine.

What I meant was that unless you have a way to boost/change the bass in the 215's it would be just like having subs that are level matched with the mains. Most people (including probably everyone that follows this thread) do not like bass that is level matched with the mains, hot bass (usually with a house curve) is subjectively preferred by most.

My point is that when you fire them up if you feel the bass is lacking it's because you are hearing level matched bass. A minidsp 2x4 for a little over 100 bucks will give you full control of how you want to change the bass levels in your 215's.

That's the lingo of a metalhead. It basically means crank up the bass!

Now that Sheldon knows you have an additional eight 18" subs he will 'encourage' you to hook those up as well.

Haha, nice interpretation of my post. Yes, 215's plus a bunch of 18's seems like a good idea to me!!

Speaking of 18's - Shaq was on Mike and Mike this morning. They got onto the subject of music and Shaq was talking about how into music he is. He said, "I don't know how many speakers you guys have in your cars but I have 14 18's in my car."

Hmm I think I found it:

That's what I was thinking. How could you stand to be in the car with 14 18's... I guess the volume of the van is pretty big so what you experienced in a smaller vehicle with 2 24's is probably more brutal than what he has???

I'm still taking time off from the system because my ears are still acting up from the weekend before last (intermittent ringing, intermittent sensitivity to sounds, hearing pulse in ear every once in awhile, all in the right ear).

I don't know how car audio guys don't go deaf quickly... actually it gives me comfort knowing that there are guys like Shaq out there that are older than me, crank it up louder I assume, and can still hear.

A functional spleen is so over-rated.

You presume he can still hear. With over a dozen 18's in one vehicle if he actually can hear it won't be for much longer.

I might be close to the exception to the rule. My 1400's are only about 2-3db hot at the moment and it's good for me. Wait....did I just admit this here????

For shame young man, for shame.
For penance you need to donate your Cap 1400 to someone in need (of Bass) and buy a set of Bose.
