Picked up my three 2008 JTR T8's today. The previous owner took very good care of them. They look like new. Fedx shows that my amp has been delivered.

What were you using before? Now you have some oomph to go with your subs.

I have always recommended JTR speakers even though I don't use them anymore. I am building some 3731's, I can't beat them for the price, not even close.

Now I am really curious to listen to this system. Any in Colorado have this system?

Okay so I found Harvey Sounds in Fort Collins Colorado that had the 2010 T8's to demo. I went up there last week and have a listen. Now I know what you guys are talking about! Damn these things just sound awesome! So today I compared them back to the Klipsch setup using the same movies from my visit. Just no comparison. The JTR's just produce a much fuller sound.

So I believe I have now found the speakers to get for my theater area that I am building in my basement. Of course now I wonder what the difference is between the T8's and T12's....

I had three Klipsch RB-35's up front. I crossed them to my subs at 100hz.

Thank you. I plan on it. I still have to calibrate everything, but from rough listening I may raise the crossover point to 100hz. Right now I think the subs have more mid-bass impact that the JTR's at 80 to 100hz. I will know more after I get everything dialed in. When you get your T12's let me know how you like them? Also what size is your room. Mine is only 11.5' x 13.5'.

I have an Epik Tower Sub and would go back and forth from 80 to 90hz crossover, never went as high as 100. That is one of the reasons I am going to the T12s so I can cross at 60hz and get that mid-bass punch in the chest feel. My room is 16.5 x 21.

I stopped in Hi Fi Buys in Nashville after dropping of my T8s to Mike and listened to the Revels and Wilson Sophias, both are around 8k per speaker. They sound great but I could never go back and give up the dynamic soundstage the JTR give you. Really amazing that $1500 JTRs can keep up and even outperform $8k speakers for a HT.

I am a couple weeks past estimated time but I haven't asked yet. The gf is getting more impatient than I am though.

Just ordered some JBL 8340a's as surrounds (placed more like rears but oh well) though so will have to wait for those too

Since Iam getting some JTR I will just post this here:

At the moment I only have the front stage on order, if I dont have surrounds for a complete 5.2 system will the audio be compressed? or am I ok just running three front channels and subs?

No processing or amplification at the moment.

I found the 8340s to sound a little... less detailed and harsher than I'm used to ...hope you have better luck... Most places allow you to return them.

I had more mid-bass punch using the Klipsch RB-35's and 100hz to the five subs. Looks like I will raise the crossover up above 80hz with the JTR's.

I ended up getting the Behringer EPX2000. I have my equipment in another room so fan noise is not a problem. The Behringer is quieter than my Nady.

Are your NHTs up front serving as MBMs or covering full range? If MBM how low do you have them playing in your set up?

The amps for them have a 30hz high pass. I adjusted the tilt in the amp so that they will put out more in the upper end and less down low, so they are a MBM but only on the LFE channel. They start rolling off at 40hz. The three small subs pick up right above the peak (35hz) in the 6.35CF ported Shiva. I also have a clone of the NHT Subtwo in the back of my room.

purchased the JTR T8 2010's from avs member ross! hoping these things will blow me away as they have others. Now i have to figure out what to do i still need audyssey wide speakers!
Hoping to pick up either a Q8 for center and another T8 or 2 more T8's, or maybe even 3x Q8's. and i wanted to say thanks to Ross for the great deal on these 2010 T8's.

staten island actually, but it is part of the nyc 5 boroughs. Pairing the jtr's to a pair of danley dts-10s should be fun, still have a pair of mfw-15's i can use if i need anymore, living room setup, lots of fun with acoustic treatments.

Read the JBL cenima thread I started.. I did purchased them and tested them out as main and as center... not as surrounds.. they're a full range speaker and I felt like experimenting, set them up at ear level next to my Rockets 850s and hoped they'd blow me away..I sent them back! ... They projected voices better but the Rockets were much more detailed, crisp and musical... music during movies just didn't sound right, they just didn't have that jam factor.. I go into detail in the thread including pics.. your findings could be totally different.

Good Luck!

Ok, I am using the JBL's as surrounds so I doubt I will have any issue with them

I got them off ebay, they were a demo unit, so very little chance of a return but for the price I got them I could sell them and not lose much if anything.

Good luck! They do play really loud! I still need to get rid of the mounts I bought 4 and never even used them, I had planned on using them as surrounds if I'd found them more to my liking.

ufokillerz, I'm sure you are going to be impressed as virtually all others on the forum have who heard or acquired them! I expected the JTR's to excel on movies and they certainly did but what surprised me was how much I enjoyed them as a very accurate 2-channel music speaker. I gotta be honest, as I'm packing these babies up today to send to you I'm having huge feelings of remorse, I will miss the clarity and dynamics and total ease at which they handle any demanding material I through at them. I would literally need a 2nd co-located Seaton SubMersive to keep up with the Triple 8's below 80hz at full reference levels. Hopefully sometime next year we will have the cashflow to move forward on the theater expansion and JTR's will find a permanent place in my home.

Enjoy these!

Cheers,
Ross
