No, my main subs still get all the content below the speaker crossover. I have the mbm set up like this through a lot of tinkering with the distance settings:

Red line is no mbm just subs, and blue line is subs plus mbm. It doesn't look like much of a difference but the tactile feel is quite different with the mbm on. If I'm in the mood I turn up the volume more on my minidsp output that controls the mbm and then it really pounds. I like having the crowson on most of the time for music as well.

Also, the effect only works with the mbm directly behind me like this:

The mbm is under all those pillows right behind my main LP.

I'll try it. I did mess with hooking up a spare channel of the other inuke that powers my crowson to the center channel today. Unfortunately I get WAY louder hiss through the center than the L and R. With the L and R I get 63 db's when putting the Radio Shack meter as far as it will go into the horn. On the center channel I get 72 dbs of hiss with doing the same thing with the meter. You can hear the hiss all over the room from the center, no good.

I am surprised at how good the response is from the center since it's so close to the floor, I did have to boost 500hz quite a bit on the avr manual EQ though.

Center channel:

Hey boys! Hope all is well! So I have purchased an LP model Triple 8 from MKTheater that will fit perfectly under my tv mounted on the neck of my tv stand. Soooooo looking forward to having a center channel again. Also I bought a new auto reclining couch (ridiculously comfy!) and got rid of my giant ottoman. The sound is soooo much cleaner and the bass from the submersives is much cleaner. The true result is that the wife said to me the sound is much better and the bass in particular is cleaner. Thats when we know we have had improvements is that when our significant others or friend or family that isnt obsessed like us notices an improvement in SQ! Next step is to finally use my Roxul AFB and make my 4 inch thick reflection panels. And the soffit pink fluffy bass traps. But the removal of the ottoman and the center coming later this week or early next week will be two big advances!

So you were using a phantom center? I hate that for movies, you will love having a JTR center. cool.gif

AHHHHHHHH

I just realized I left the distance setting at 8 feet on the inuke from back when I was using it to power 2 of my subs. Dammit - now I have to mess with eq around the crossover all over again.

There is a 70" sony on sale right now for a great price that uses passive 3d and can use the movie theater glasses, so that be a cheap way to get a bunch of 3d glasses for guests. Pics if you got them!

This is the TV

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KDL-70R550A-70-Inch-120Hz-Internet/dp/B00AWKBZKC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395090725&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+70+passive+3d

It is on sale at Fry's, BestBuy, and now Amazon. $1799. Normally $2300 or higher.

Seems like a pretty nice unit.

I gotta admit the last few times I've been to Nebraska Furniture Mart or even Best Buy and looked at some of the newer TVs they just look astounding. My projector is not at all keeping pace with TV tech. Inky blacks you could dip your fountain pen into. I can't afford a $5k JVC projector, but I can get as good, or better picture quality with something like that 70" Sony HDTV. It's tempting. I even zoomed my projector back to a 70" diagonal and watched Lord of the Rings this last weekend. It looked great (my projector even looked better at 70" than it does at 106").

All I'm saying is I'm tempted.

Interesting you say that as I'm considering an 80" TV for my living/theater room. I thought about a 90" but the quality on those isn't up to standards yet. Not exactly 120" 2.35 but doing a projector in my room will be so much work.

Hmm. When I'm in those stores I think to myself how small the screens are. I don't think I'm much of a videophile, I don't really notice bad blacks that much I guess. A b-ball game is on my screen right now and it looks amazing to me even with the lights all the way up.

However, I am considering buying one of these since all the reviews are so good:

TV's in the stores are always super bright because thats the way the manufacturer sets them up so they look all flashy. I bet that your projector bulb is not as bright as it used to be and you don't realize it because of the slow processes of it burning out. I think that you said that you have an 8350 a while back?? That projector doesn't have the greatest blacks but it is kind of bright. Spend 200 dollars and a bulb and save 1600 dollars and still have a bigger screen.

+1

Use it on a 115" (soon to be 136) scope screen and it wrings out that last little bit.

What do you think about this option if you're toying with the idea of a new player?

They look really sweet and oppo has a great rep. The only thing holding me back is that I have multiple sources on the darbee now and would hate to restrict it to just blu-Ray. Plus it's pricey... A used 93 and darbee can be found for less.

As long as there is a return policy seems like there is no harm. If you try it and it doesn't look better send it back.

IMO, the pictures on their site look either fake or like they have a lot of noise in the darbee version.

You can go to the darbee thread and look at the posted pictures of screen shots from forum members. One cool thing about the Darblet is that there are two demo modes and you can see the difference the darblet makes.

Jonathan, how about a flat screen and a drop down projector screen in front of it?

I had one in my system for about a month. In the end I didn't think it was worth keeping. There's a couple of local members that also felt the same way. That being said, I feel like the unit is really display/room dependent so it *MIGHT* do better job for you than it did for me. smile.gif

Can't really tell a difference with it on or off, but could be that I have a 60" display. I've read it may work better on bigger screens, but figured I'd pass along my experience with it.

If it is family night or the wife's turn to pick a movie "Frozen" is the most Tolerable family movie I have watched since "Little Miss Sunshine".

All that singing is a little irritating but It sounds So Good on the system that I actually enjoyed it. I know it will be the new Reference for my wife to show her friends and family. She loved it. Our Nieces go crazy watching that movie. Their reaction is Truly priceless. I am now the favorite Uncle in the family which is where I should have been to begin with. biggrin.gif

So if anyone needs to impress the wife or family Frozen is an Outstanding choice. smile.gif
