I've had this idea of using t12lp's for surrounds in my room which has t8's for back & surrounds x6 . The 215's for LCR duty would bring a new dimension of possibility.
All I need would be one more t12lp and three 215's . tongue.gif

I'd just like to point out that my logic was sound at 2am...now it doesn't seem as solid, smile.gif. Good points you guys have made. It doesn't seem feasible but it would have been nicer from an aesthetics point of view. Who knows, I might have my artistic dad paint the horns to match the Bubinga veneer I will be using on the 212s. We'll see.

I just had a picture of a brand new getting into the hobby guy who thinks he will spend 2.5k on a decent system and be done forever. (I think we all or most were that guy at first. Heck, Austin you have Bose equipment right?) Anyway this guy seeing your "wall" of subs and laughing at someone telling you that you had logic! Heck the first time I seen your pics I thought you were crazy. But I certainly understand it now. Besides my friends think i'm crazy for having 4-15's and 4.8kw power lol.

I think this would be Awesome. No thought required just do it. smile.gif The T12s coaxial center can be switched out to the top position making them great rear channels.

With the Badass system you already have you would need to go Extreme to make a noticeable difference. The 215RTs are Extreme. ( & Mean looking)

Looking forward to meeting to meeting you DD smile.gif.

Oh and on a related topic and due in no small part to the efforts of our own desertdome, Mr John Hamm (CEO PONO Music) will be here on Saturday to demo the PONO music player for the group. He is a bit time constrained so if you want to hear the PONO player on the 215RT's, get here early (like noon). I said this was gonna be a fun weekend ... looking like an epic one! cool.gif

I'm sure there other technical considerations as well.

Frohlic has a custom 228HT center channel, actually I don't even know if you can call it a 228. It uses the same cabinet as the 228 and has the same two 8" drivers but has a wooden horn and uses the 4593 compression driver.

Of course I like the way you think ... (validates my insanity tongue.gif). Jeff has been measuring all morning. Won't even let me in the room ... tongue.gif I think he thinks he is going to give me the Jeff Permanian sound. Little does he know that once he is gone, things will be tweaked. Do the 215s have 2 part grills? One for each 15" driver leaving the horn exposed.

Hey Chris,
Right the 215RTs are extreme and definitely will make a statement, they look aggressive which I like. I'd have to make some adjustments at the front wall but it's worth it. I like re- constructing areas of my room to accommodate new ideas that to me may enhance the HT experience. smile.gif
Music also has to be addressed and so I've yet to think about how to do it. I sure I'll find the help here on the forum when the time comes.
I am still a big fan of the t12s, it is a perfect HT speaker as far as I'm concerned.
I can't wait for Rob's review it will be interesting how he likes things without subs up front.
For me I will still hookup subs, after all what will I do with my eight sub drivers.biggrin.gif
But I'm getting ahead of myself. I have not put an order in as of yet.

Nope, it would be a shame to cover up that front baffle. In fact, they look so cool that I almost wish they weren't behind the screen.

That PONO demo is something I'd love to hear more about...that's great you guys managed to get a demo. I'm about to order a turntable for now...

Btw, did you get the 'standard' JTR finish?...for some reason, I thought the 215 standard would be glossy piano black...I'm likely confusing speculation with facts.

glossy black is an upgrade charge. Veneering or polishing a speaker that large is a pretty significant upgrade charge I'll wager. tongue.gif

Will the Pono player use iTunes? This is the same player that Neil Young had a hand in right?

How about some speaker porn?

We have EQ'd them with the Rane and the LFE has been low passed to the LCR cjhannels. Jeff got them flat (to 16Hz) with the PEQ in the Rane and then we ran an 8 position Audyssey. All is level matched and then we played lots of music and several movie clips AOF, FOTF, WOTW and This is It . At this point all I can say is HOLY $HITE!

Seriously fellas, I am majorly stoked about these speakers.
