Has anyone one compared the triple 12ht-lp to the Noesis 212ht-lp? I just had the triple 12ht-lp put in and triple 8ht-lp for the center with ta couple if dual opposing 15's from a different maker. The center sounder quite clear, although the triple 12ht-lp seemed to be lacking I upper midrange or the top end as less treble compared to the center and just seemed to lacking in upper range and seen several reports now about the Noesis 212ht's & the lp version as well and Jeff told me after I got the 12's the Noesis were better but a bit more money. So anyone? If I knew they were better. I would've got the noesis ones. So they were just hooked up a week ago and thought I saw a 30 day of exchange or something like that. So please go one about the Noesis speaker line please and advice? I'm running krell s275 amps that have plenty of power & Jeff himself said enough power & no need to go to mono on these to double the power rating as the 12's are already have a very high sensitivity level. Thanks

IMHO, Noesis 212's with your S2's is the ticket. You simply don't need what the 215RT with the possible exception of the wider/bigger soundstage that I hear. Remember, this is audio memory and to put it indelicately, my audio memory sucks smile.gif.

Rob.. My wife seen the pictures of you with the 215 in FB. And she actually called me and said, "Hon, come you have to see this!" "Jeff posted these sexy looking speakers on FB." I said,"Yea, that's the one I've been telling you about." It's all over AVS forum! That's he's newest design! Top of the line! Then she said "Wow, that's friggin gorgeous!" Is those going to be at the show? Then I said, "Who? The speakers or the guy in that picture?Lol!" No stupid, as she's laughing.. THOSE SPEAKERS!
Anyway, I think we're on to something. If Jeff puts out a good demo of those 215's, then she probably be sold too. smile.gif ok, now direction is changing again.. Now I'm thinking 215 LR, 212 with wooden horn positioned for horizontal duty (center) and 4 S8 surrounds. smile.gif Yeah, f^>k it! Go for broke! Lol

Not if they're standing on top of the built-in you made for what you previously thought was a big speaker in the 212. Or that your room is so small the 215 is in your lap. smile.gif. But yes, they'd look bad ass. wink.gif

It's a slippery slope this HT audio. We watched RockinRolla last night (really fun movie BTW) and listened to quite a bit of music. Struggled with the projector image until DD noticed Vertical Stretch had accidentally been enabled. Lost a couple of hours on that one redface.gif.

As I said before, the front image (soundstage) of the 215RT is astounding. I was worried that I might miss the front height speakers but these throw such a huge image they are unnecessary. They keep getting better with each listen.

DD is a real JRiver guru and it looks like a very good option for me down stream, It seems to do everything the Rane does minus the visuals the Rane provides for PEQ.

I'm confused by this. When you say, "We had to cut the sub channels..." what does that mean? You're running these speakers "Full Range", are you not? If you set the mains to Large or Full Range in the pre/pro, and the subwoofer to No or Off, there should be no "subwoofer channels." The "sub channels" are off and the LFE channel should be re-directed to the L/R speakers. All Audyssey should be doing is calibrating for levels and distances for the speakers. There are no subwoofers, or sub channels to "cut."

And turning Audyssey's EQ on or off shouldn't have any impact on any of this. The calibration would remain, even with Audyssey's EQ turned off. The only way Audyssey could be having a significant impact is if there was a HUGE peak that Audyssey was cutting, and then it should sound *better* not worse with Audyssey. It might sound like less bass, but it should be better bass.

If Jeff took some measurements pre- and post- Audyssey, it would be helpful if he could post them along with the pre- and post- Audyssey level, distance and Bass Management settings.

Also, what is the sensitivity of these speakers? If it's so high that the speakers are "out of range" of Audyssey's adjustment capabilities, that's a completely different issue.

Craig

I'm curious about this too. I figured a 212 for center and then run LR of 215s as large for bass duties if I were to get a pair. Maybe @RMK! can test this for us...by setting his center to just small...I think two 215 would provide plenty of bass this way as well.

I'm just posting another famous quote about what is enough:

"640 k ought to be enough for anybody." - Bill Gates, 1981 (note that this quote might be a myth but it is apropo for our purposes.)

So how can you make such a statement? I could understand if you were new to the forum but you've been here long enough to know there is no such thing as enough. If there was, there would have been no need for the 215s right? I kid, I kid, but seriously, for many people on here, a pair of 215s would not be enough bass. Crazy maybe but definitely true. smile.gif

Of course, I'm glad Jeff made the 215s as it will raise JTRs popularity even though I won't ever have the 215s in my current house. Glad they are living up to expectations too. That is awesome.

You should go ahead and order them man...

Dibbs on the 212's if I haven't made that abundantly clear already.

The last guests just left a little bit ago. We had a great time listening to the 215RT's. I think I've spent at least 12 hours listening to them since noon yesterday. Absolutely incredible!

I love how Jeff designed the grills for Frohlich's custom center channel so that they didn't hide that sexy wooden horn!

A bit off topic but you's guys are pretty smart so I will provide a link to the REW thread and perhaps you might respond if you have any ideas. Basically I put a 10db boost at 60hz and it hasn't really affected the time domain much. Anyway graphs are posted...One thing is for sure though, these JTR speakers work so well with my Submersives.

Full range speakers like this are a different animal. Not for everyone due to the complexity of setting them up properly. I would still be struggling withthe setup were it not for Jeff and Michael's (desertdome's) assistance cool.gif. Haven't had time to compose my thoughts on this yet but suffice to say that I agree with Michael's comment above. The experience is very much like the Noesis 212's and Orbit Shifters but more refined . For two channel, the sound stage and bass integration is just off the charts. Simply better than any speaker I have heard. Michaels playing Hotel California (HFO remaster) now as I type and it is just blissful.

WOW, do I really own these things! eek.gifcool.gif Will try and post some pics and a summary later today on the GTG Thread.

I am glad your happy with them. I am certainly ready to hear them and I am thinking of heading to Axpona this year, hopefully get some good seat time with them there. I think they are beautiful and quite a sight, but I know right now they are not for me.

My first time to the east coast. Just to demo speakers and make my purchase. Wifey thinks I'm crazy. But I guess she's happy for me since I've been working so much lately. And she's born and raised in Chicago. So it's a perfect vacation. Hope to meet you up there bro..

Rob.. You should of not said that it sounds like 212's with Orbit Shifters. Remember what subs I wanted first right? Perfect.. Just perfect.. smile.gif

But you have dual Orbit Shifter output above and your S2 output down low! You have the best of both worlds.

I still have not made plans yet, I ran it by my wife and she was interested. The best news for me is that Atlantic City International just picked up United airlines non stop to Chicago. That will be perfect for me. I assume that I will be there Friday and Saturday and leave on Sunday.
