Put the CD 1-2' above seated head height.

That's the truth. When Jeff was out here for a few days we were talking about Tom Danley and his designs. They are good friends and I asked Jeff if Tom had discussed the line source S-Horn with him. Jeff said; "we never talk business, just cars and motorcycles"

That is probably why they are still friends ... smile.gif

Well I got several room treatments built and hung. But I didn't scientifically place with the ETC in REW and I think my reflections may look worse. But I don't know how to interpret them. My FR response has improved though and noise floor decreased a few db's. I will get pics later...

My biggest issue with the JTRs is that now I spend an hour listening to music after every movie I watch.... This is really cutting into my sleep time. My coffee consumption has gone up. But, man, music is so engaging with these speakers, it's easy to lose track of time.

Depends upon what type of finish you want. Veneered or any optional finish like a smooth mat finish require an extra 4-6 weeks. My veneered 228HTs and smooth Slant 8HTs took 10 weeks but the order was placed end of last year so Jeff was buried with all of us trying to beat the price increases. I believe the standard finish ships in 4-6 weeks. Best to email or cal JTR for updated info.

I placed an order for 3xT8HT-LP's. Jeff has given me an ETA for end of next week (1 month). They do not have any upgraded veneers, etc.

When Jeff was here for the GTG he said he was "pretty much on schedule" with all orders. As noted, any customization = more time is needed. smile.gif

I am coming up on two weeks of ownership of the 215RT LCR's and they continue to impress all who hear them. I had an old sound engineer audiophile friend over last weekend and without his actually saying it I knew he had low expectations for the Home Theater, pro audio derived towers. Unfortunately never had the opportunity to hear my Noesis and Orbit Shifter setup but he did hear the T12/OS configuration. He was impressed with the sound for HT, but I could tell he was not impressed with the musical presentation of that setup (damned by faint praise is how I would describe it).

Upon seeing the 215's he was more than a little taken aback. I had him help take the screen down and we spent about two hours going through my new lossless music collection along with some CD's SACD's he had brought along. I sat him in the sweet spot and fired up some Beatles (Love DVD) and he was drawn in. He had heard the re-mix before and wasn't impressed but the 215's presentation in stereo had him pinned to his seat. It was the biggest soundstage he had ever experienced and the detail and clarity from top to bottom was near perfect. We played everything from Neil Young to Nirvana to Sting and Diana Krall and each song sounded as good or better as we moved through the selections.

He hadn't really enjoyed music on my system since my Revel days (he had pushed me in that direction wink.gif ) and it was very cool to see him caught up in the sound like that. His eyes (and ears) were opened to a new experience in music listening courtesy of these monster speakers and their incredibly big and clean sound. I never pushed the volume above -8 or so ref for music but we put the screen back up and I did give him a taste of The Art of Flight at more spirited levels. Big grins all around and this quote "if I could make them fit in my room, I'd buy them". Not sure but I think maybe 210RT's are in his future.... cool.gif

^^ Every time you talk about the 215's I get antsy.. I can't wait for the demo coming soon. My wife is very excited for the demo also. I just cant wait to convert all my speakers to full JTR's. I'm L/R 215's. And 212 cc for sure. Just going back and forth with slanted 8's or T8's for surrounds. Will the T8's be any different from just running S8's for surround duty?

3 drivers in T8 should provide broader physical coverage. I am using Quintuples (Five 8" drivers) as surrounds with my 212 LCRs and I am quite happy with them.

I have all JTR 's, T12's for LCR, and 6 T8's for surrounds two rows of sides/a pair for back duty. They sound fantastic , having T8's makes sense. With that said I believe s8's will do the job just fine. Just ask anyone who has them, Rmk used one of his slants for center duty when he sold his t12's and was waiting on his 212's he said he was very impressed with the sound. Just saying wink.gif

I'm curious to know if you'll really benefit from having 215 as L/R over the 212, being that you have multiple S2 already. Unless you're like me and justifying it for 2-channel listening...and other vanity based reasoning wink.gif

Sorry to make you "antsy" , I'll stop posting impressions till you get to hear them. tongue.gifwink.gif

Re the surrounds, the S8's are so good that I'm not sure anything more is needed for surround duty. Had the Single 8LP's existed when I bought my T8LP's I probably would have gone with the S8LP.

As Peter said, I was really impressed with the Slanted 8 as center channel. Of course, I also loved the Triple 8LP's as mains. Bottom line is the performance delta between all of these is relatively small.

That said, the 215RT's allow me to do 2 channel better than I have ever heard it done and, the fact hat they were able to displace the Orbit Shifters for Home Theater makes them a great option (amongst many great options) for me. smile.gif

Please don't stop Rob. You almost have asoofi convinced...

In fact, I'm really hoping to start seeing 212's start popping up in the classifieds...
