Haha, well I have to admit I left my car out in the driveway during the hail storm yesterday. Back in 2000 I got a check for 3500 for hail damage (the car didn't even look that bad either) so I thought what the hell...that would go a long way towards 215's.

Yes I know, I have a problem. redface.gifbiggrin.gif

Personally, I don't like anything ceiling mounted. But they might be fine for rears.

I gotta say you gotta mighty fine lady there. I can get away with allot, but I know If I started cutting sheetrock and plucking speakers in, she might start swinging.

Just my personal experience, but I have not been a fan of ceiling mounting in my room. Particularly if you listen to mch, I don't recommend it. But ymmv.

I am going to wait myself to hear them next month. I really want to see how much I am gong to gain over my 212's and big subs. I also want to wait till my theater is done. I still have to buy a screen and theater seats, not to mention a small fortune in materials next week frown.gif

Add me to the list of former DT/SVS (9.1) owner sold to purchase current JTR/Seaton (5.2) system. DT system: BP2000s LR, CLR3000 C, BPVX X 4 Surrounds & ProMonitor1000s Heights and a SVS PB12 +/2. Sold everything except the ProMonitors which are currently being used as surround duty until I can purchase a pair of slanted 8s. My current 5.2 system (JTR T12s w/Seaton HP+ Master/Slave) blows away the old DT/SVS system biggrin.gif

Have you already purchased the slanted 8s for the sides? If not, why not go with the S8LP? For me, I don't have a right side wall to mount my surround to so it has to be ceiling mounted or plucked on a stand in the middle of the room (wife won't likely go for that). And if I am going to mount one on the ceiling it has to be both and your method will make it much more appealing to my wife wink.gif. Currently have my surrounds ceiling mounted and it sounds very good to me, but I have nothing to compare to.

Even better, guess who's going to do most of the drywall patching? I've trained her well after leaving a few holes in the walls for a few months when I ran CAT 6 cable. She finally patched the holes herself. She's pretty good at it too. Oh yeah, when we paint, she does the trim as I don't have the patience. biggrin.gif

Already have the Slanted 8s but I'm a woodworker so I could always rebuild them if I wanted to make them long and shallow to fit in-wall. Wouldn't be my first choice but thinking about how big those things are on the wall, I'm considering it. I really like the low profile in the ceiling. When I get them painted, they'll blend into the ceiling pretty well.

I've seen several in my lifetime. I'd much prefer I never see another one in person, nor anybody else see one either.

They're much better to watch in "Twister".

I didn't win the lottery over the weekend. Perhaps I'll win this week, and then order 215's! smile.gif
I wonder what it would sound like with 7 215's doing surround? lol biggrin.gif

Back at home in Hawaii.. Had a great time in Chicago and the show. Ibrown105, JP, and MS.. Was nice to meet you guys. My family had fun at the Axpona. I think my wife had more fun then I did, lol.. We liked hanging out more at the JTR room towards the ending part of the show. When Jeff stretched out the legs of the 215's just a little, lol. Remember that Ibrown105? Anyway guys, my thoughts on the 215's. Straight answer, no BS..
For all us bass heads. We want bass? The 215's has it. LOTS of it!! For us who just want to listen like low volumes. With dynamics, impactful and separation.. These speakers has all those. And then some. For SPL, well if there wasn't restriction at the hotel, I can't imagine what the 215's would do with a high powered amp. Btw, all this demo that I've heard with the 215's was just a Oppo player and a 80 watt amp.. I'm dead sold.. Jeff, remember I told you that I'll be calling you up on Tuesday.. So remember to pickup your phone.. Wanna get it going.. smile.gif

OK. Here is a graphical representation of my side surrounds mounted up on the wall versus the ceiling. I wasn't sure the dispersion pattern of the S8s so I used 90 degrees. The loveseat has its back shown in this picture and my seat, the sweet spot is right in the center of the room. Any thoughts on which setup might sound better? Thanks.

yeah that was fun especially when we had the Dark Night rolling out bass into the rest of the hotel. That was with only 80 watts. Next time we bring the LG! biggrin.gif Great meeting you and your family and I sent you pm on those brackets too. Look forward to seeing pics after you get the new set up. cheers

Definately bring the LG.. Btw, if you feel the LG is becoming a shelf queen, hit me up and send it to me.. I'll keep them in the cycle till your HT is done brotha. smile.gif
Oh, and I forgot to tell you.. Be careful when you get the 3rd OS in the mix. You can forget about being nauseated. They'll probably end you up in the hospital. Lol.. Thanks for the link. Will be seeing you guys at the 2015 Axpona.

I like the look of the ceiling mounted but I am no expert on what the sound quality differences may be. Hopefully somebody else will chime in on that.

Gotta love this crazy weather... at least it gives me time to get caught up on AVS.

Aw yes! The Cat 8c. Phenomenal sounding active speaker too. These would also be more then enough together with a single or dual SubM or F2. 8" vs 12" on the 12c.

Ah right, I forgot the Cat 8C. Thought they were all 12's in the pic instead of all 8's, but should've known. Thanks rhed. smile.gif

Sold everything except the ProMonitors which are currently being used as surround duty until I can purchase a pair of slanted 8s. My current 5.2 system (JTR T12s w/Seaton HP+ Master/Slave) blows away the old DT/SVS system biggrin.gif

Man I really wish I wouldn't have sold my Pro Monitor 1000's! I could use them for surround duty! But I sold them...They are decent little speakers for sure, much more bass than you would think. I had BP8060 Towers, 8040 Center, 8040 surrounds (I grabbed the 2k deal when it was up last year) Then the pro monitors. Also had an HSU VTF-15H. Honestly not a bad system at all. We have all upgraded from lesser systems and if we are honest the experience wasn't shabby with the starter or 2nd system. But the capability (horsepower in SPL!) and the dynamics and detail are nice. The biggest difference is no distortion! I could turn up my DT system to a point then it was time to turn it down said my ears!. I think I have moved generally fast with LCR Triple 8's, Denon 4520, two 2400 HP Seaton Submersives and a couple DIY Volt 10's for surrounds. Then of course all my new treatments (thread soonish) and new couch and blacked out front wall add to the experience. I use my Mac Mini HTPC a lot too. Once my 4520 gets here Thursday and the Volts are done I will rest there for some time as other life priorities arise (Gosh!). Maybe I need some hail storms and I can add a PJ and DIY screen! The big separation is the ability to hit the gas and the subs and speakers don't distort but will just go as loud as I can stand and still sound grrrrreat!

For sale: 2x Seaton Submersive 2400 HP Models. Definitive Technology PM600 HTIB. PM for any interests :)

The individual in question reminds me a bit of a co-worker I have. He has a very nice setup, but his equipment cost about four times what mine did. He has some nice stuff, but is sold more on a brand than performance.... I was shocked how much better my system sounded than his. Part of it was he hasn't done any sort of detailed calibration, nor does he have any room treatments...

Anyways, he kept telling me how he had the "best" money could buy and that the best speakers for HT are Paradigm...etc, etc..

I didn't say too much except that I thought his room sounded nice..... He didn't say much after a demo in my room. My guess is that he probably realized mine sounded better, at a fraction of the cost...wink.gif

Nice one Coach, I thought that was very good post in the 4520CI thread. Thumbs up!
