PARTY FOUL!!! You mentioned 215s for surrounds and I about had a cow...until I got back on track and realized you meant the B215s...please do not use the 215 name in vain. Now can you imagine that Gatling gun scene with 7 215s?

I was hoping for it to be reschuled again. I was really looking forward to seeing all the fellas again and not to mention a state of the art JTR setup I hope you guys have good time. I'll be laying back watching the feedback. On the flip side I got my room all wired before Surgery. Almost ready for Sheetrock.

I did what Jeff is suggesting with the 212HT's with an inuke 3000dsp and the results were fantastic.

Nice! Glad to hear the other guys will be getting their 215's soon, I'm starting to get nervous that I'm going to get beat up.
I am going to try this with my 228's and 3000dsp's. Do you recall what you set it at? I understand the frequency and gain amount, but not sure how wide to make it (Q?)

I bet your really glad you have so much real estate behind the screen. Even with the 215's you should have plenty of room. Will the components need to move left or right to make room for the center channel?

Hopefully not.

Only if I have a massive bass null with the center channel.

I still have 5 feet in front of the equipment rack that I can use to move the center channel around.

The total length behind the screen wall is 7.5' And yes, I an very glad I had so much real estate behind the screen.

Looks fantastic SOWK.
Over 7 feet of space behind the screen wall will allow you to get the 215's 0ff of the front wall and that could be a good thing. Very anxious to hear your impressions.

RMK! - That is exactly why I had so much space to begin with...

I wanted any speaker I could get down there to have the proper distances away from the side walls and front wall.

I fully expect to like them more then my Vandersteen's for Movies. But I am hesitant to think they will be better for music. But I may be surprised.

Here is a before graph for my Vandersteen Quatro's no EQ

And here is the graph after Audyssey Pro XT32

They too are full range speakers like the JTR 215RT's as you can see they have plenty out output to 20Hz.

But I am sure they can get no where near the same volume without massive distortion.

Audyseey is designed to calibrate flat to 75db as you see in the graph, and then have a slight roll off after 10khz

Sorry for the crappy tiny graphs, but that's what they give you as a print out... LOL

Good thinking and very well executed. Like I said, I'm very interested in your impressions.

Movies (bluray) have some of the best recorded music anywhere and I continue to be completely satisfied wit the 215's for both movies and music. Maybe I'm just jaded (or burned out ) after so many attempts to "get it right" with my audio, but I simply can't find any fault with the 215RT's. That said, I'm on an island (small, deserted) with this no separate subs approach and so direct comparisons are difficult.

SOWK, have you thought about flipping the 215RT's upside down when you get them in your room? So that the ports are up top? With your elevated front stage that would probably put the center of the horn close to ear level. Of course I'm just guessing by taking a quick look at your stage.

Rob and Nate,

you guys were right. These are even better for music than the 212's + subs. I'm on my second album since I first fired them up and I can tell it's going to be a late night.

Right now I'm playing them full range no subs and FLAT. Flat has never sounded so good. I must suck at integrating subs with mains, haha, but it's not for a lack of trying!!

I will play with eq tomorrow and I'm sure I'll run them a little hot but right now it's sounding incredible.

What I like better:

Imaging. Instruments/voices are even easier to pick out/seperate.
Soundstage - massive. Danley SH50 massive? Not sure... I'd have to have them in the same room again. If I had to bet I'd say the Danley's still have the edge here.
When I stand up and move around the room the sound is so consistent! Just what I loved about he SH50's!
I swear they have a little bit different sound in the highs. I know it makes not sense because it's the same compression driver, but it's a slightly different sound. So far I prefer it but I have only listened to 1 full album and part of another.

Ok.... just crossed them over to the subs. Hmmm something sounds wrong in comparison. Can't put my finger on it.... going back to no subs full range.... ahhh that's better.

Lot's of experimenting/measuring/etc. to do, this is going to be fun!

Here are some pictures from earlier today at the GTG:

its phillip and asoofi1 like this.

Hmmm can't remember exact settings but I'm going to do a similar thing with the 215's. As great as flat is sounding now there is no way that I won't want to play with boosting the lows. I'll do some trial and error tomorrow and let you know.

Woah!! Just played the intro to The Night and the Silent Water by Opeth. The imaging is way more 3-D. The guitarist on the right is a few feet closer to me and the guitarist on the left is further away. Completely distinct from each other and not standing next to each other. Haha, this is cool.

Either that or I'm hallucinating after a long day.
