That thing only having 1 sub out makes it useless for me and quite a few other people. too bad, adding another sub out could have made it an awesome unit.

Agreed, but my thoughts are I would keep my nearfield on the minidsp I have now, with the full front stage on the .1 of the 8 channel unit. I run it all as one unit anyways You could technically get two units and piggy back them with the .1 of your first box going into a 10x10 or something of the like where you did your own processing beforehand, then letting the dirac unit incorporate the subsystem as a whole into the rest of the system Just posturing here.

Seems like a glaring omission for a $1k unit. How many that are the target audience only have one sub or one sub out for their pre-pro?

I agree. I was pretty interested but if it only has one sub out then it defeats the purpose for my needs. To bad..was promising product.

Ya, I guess you could do that but it sure would be nice to have 2 separate subs outs. In my case it's would likely mess up trying to EQ 2 x Ghorns with sealed subs since the horn is such a long path. I would have to go, 80.3 to drc-88 to opendrc x 2 to amp. I hate having that may connections. I'd be inclined to get a XMC-1 over the DRC-88 if it came down to it.

I knew I heard DIO and figured it had to be Rainbow since I don't think I've ever heard that song.

Dude! All the Rainbow albums with RJD are awesome. Do I need to bring them with me to KC.

Will get the DT blu ray in the mail this week...I've been slackin'.

Here is what TIDAL has, a lot of live stuff and compilations but it looks like studio albums too - anything missing? I'm going to dive into this, it's pretty bad that Man on the Silver Mountain is about the extent of my Rainbow knowledge. I do love that song.

Ha, no worries about the DT blu ray, if worse comes to worse and you forget to mail it we'll watch it together right?

That pretty much covers Rainbow...now if the the band Elf you pretty much have Dio's early career.

Watching it on your speakers would be awesome...but not as awesome as Through the Never or the Sully Edna Avalon concert.

Haha, too good man, I'm listening to Opeth on Tidal right now.

However, it is missing 2 of their better if not best albums. I assume it's all about who the record company was with each individual album.

Hmm I guess having sonos gave me an early access of some sort? My impressions thus far is the quality is quite good, but it almost seems as if they neuter the bass or filter it somehow. I even played a high bitrate mp3 file that I have at my house in my library head to head against the deezer version of the same song and the deezer version sounded at least several dB less in the bass arena. It makes absolutely no sense to me why they would do any type of filtering of their streaming but perhaps they cut off some of the bottom end or attenuate to make streaming the lossless versions better? I dunno... I need to head-to-head-to-head deezer, sonos, and my local version to see what I come up with.

Regarding the DDRC-88A vs nanoAVR DL, I've had better luck with applying Dirac before bass management, although it can work either way. That would steer me toward the nanoAVR, which is also half the price.

It also eliminates the multi-sub issue.

Which would be fine if it didn't take away one of the other channels needed for surround. I guess if someone was doing 5 channel surround, it would be a badass unit.
I'd imagine that will will see a 10 or 12 channel unit in the future.

Also, Minidsp, get you act together and get rid of Phoenix connectors! Like really, who the hell uses that crap in a home theater....

want a reality check for how good this thread is? Just spend some time at the "Lounge" and you will remember very quickly how awesome and fun this thread is, among many others on AVS. Just trying to get some basic information over their is awfully painful and some of the dumbest comments I ever seen on any of the forums. Ok sorry had to vent.

I should have Dirac soon (days) and plenty of time to play with it over the Holidays. Look forward to getting the Dirac signal back into the JTR's and updating my findings!! Did I mention JTR's are awesome!

Just finished watching some movie with 300mph winds. Acting B-, writing C- and special effects B.
