That growler is a beast above 40hz for sure!

Jeff it's awesome that you are putting your gear on data-bass! Looks like everything will be very successful against your ID competition based on the first two entries!

Congrats!

I think it's impressive that the Captivator did what it did with only 1400 watts. Keep in mind that all the passive and diy subwoofers are burst tested with either a 10,000 or 20,000 watt amplifier. The Captivator 1400 only has a 1400 watt amplifier. Subtract 9-12db from the passive and diy numbers to give you an idea of what they would do with 1400 watts. Looking at the cea-2010 burst testing, 16-50hz and 100-125hz the Captivator 1400 was the highest self powered subwoofer (Paradigm edged it out by 0.1db at 63hz and 2db at 80hz).

If you liked the Growlers data then wait to you see the Orbit Shifter PRO
nash23, countryWV and DRC3 like this.

Is that really correct Jeff? Doesn't Josh only push the DIY and passive subs with how much the drivers can actually handle? Otherwise he'd be burning up test drivers every time he tests one. I mean 10,000watts, how many drivers can handle that much power?

Jeff, will you have an OS LFU tested as well?

Nate I was thinking almost the same thing. Maybe four of them up front, run them on the LG10k and put the sunfire back on the mains and surrounds. Then cross the main at 100 to the growlers and cross the OS LFU tot he growlers around 50hz. would need a new Minidsp with more channels though.

Pre-Pro: Emotiva XMC-1, DSP: Mini DSP 2x4 balanced
Amplifier: Sunfire TGA7400, Lab Gruppen FP10000Q
Speakers: JTR Noesis 212HT (LCR), JTR Slant 8's (surrounds), 3 Orbit Shifter LFU's
Sources: PS3, HTPC, Dish Network
Projector: Epson 8350
Screen: Seymour XD AT 138" diagonal 16:9

That was interesting since you can compare all of the other former subs head to head with the cap. I went through all of the subs that would be considered the competition for the cap and all of them came up short, most of them way short. I'm not surprised.

So what sub is that that has the all time best on data bass? I put in the g horn and the othorn and they are below that line so what the heck sub is that?

Man I bet the pro is unreal. I would love to just play around with one for a week or two..... Sure you don't want to have one of those for demo purposes like you do the s8's? btw, I would love to test the s8's out against the new surrounds I am working with Matt on. Are they currently out for demo?

I run a 5.1.4 system. My .1 is six subs. I use a 10x10HD for the subs and have them on one channel of the 88A. I left off the two back ceiling Atmos speakers and just set distance manually. We should have our MiniDSP products in, next week.

But seriously Mike, I also bought the AV7702 and an Atmos setup was the reason. When Dirac becomes a licensed component of an AVR or SSP that also supports the 3D audio formats, I'm in. In the meantime, I'll just struggle along with what sounds to me to be outstanding SQ without Dirac.
Wasted that one. Now it would be nice it the 88A supported more channels, but the beauty of it, is you can use it with any AVR or prepro that has preouts. Just buy the processor that has the features you want and then run through the Dirac unit.
