Thought I would share my experience here, we own a bottom end Sony DVD home theatre setup and had to leave behind the old cables as the new carpets were very well fitted and the speaker cables well and truly held down with the gripper rails!!! 1/8th inch diameter female connectors were identified as what I needed (via another thread in this forum). Halfords/ Wholefrauds (not surprisingly) couldn't help with this most common of ICE connector so... as I only needed four pins and it was bank holiday Sunday I found the following at Maplins ( http://www.maplins.co.uk/
HDD power connector female - Stock number JW65V
The bare metal crimped plugs are a firm fit on the male pins on the back of the Sony DVD Home Theatre unit, BUT ensure they are well insulated to prevent shorting between adjacent pins...
I am sure given a few days I could find these items cheaper from a specialist ICE or AV supplier in Southampton BUT as a quick fix, these connectors can be soldered or crimped easily (shame the HDD plastic bit gets binned - £1.29 for the four connectors and the plastic doo-dad)
Hope this info helps someone!
