Yes, that's right I hate you all! I had set myself a budget for my first home theater and about $5-6K was to be set aside for the speakers, so naturally I come here and ask you guys for help in this thread. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...php?p=16924187. ( I knew it was a mistake to come here!)

Well to cut a long story short after some deliberation on my part and a new car for the wife to grease the wheels, I am going to go with Seaton sounds 3 Catalysts, 2 sparks (for now) and 1 submersive (for now) which ended up blowing out my conservative budget. Needless to say I am sure I will be happy with my choice and I am appreciative of all the help I received, especially due to the fact that I am totally new to all this. (this thread is just a cover so the wife doesn't get all suspicious!)

My build thread

My 8 x RE XXX 18" Subwoofers, IB build
Couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel.

Do you know what Nemesis means?

That is going to be a very, very nice setup! Congrats, I'm sure you won't regret blowing your budget once you get those fired up.

Enjoy!

I am not sure to take you seriously or not? And if you were serious what did you have in mind?

I agree, Bose would have been a much more solid choice. You could have had "Room filling sound from small satellite speakers". You can't beat quality like that for any price.
You will regret you purchase once you hear Bose, I guarantee it!

Yup that's right, I said it.

Okay I can't keep a straight face anymore.

This is your first home theater? You have to be kidding me! Talking about starting things off on the right foot. Many of the people I know started off with a HTIB or small sattilite speakers. i'm have so much hate for you right now, that the only way for me to get over it is to stay at your house for a couple of months. Oh, my mother taught me manners so PLEASE

Lucky man, indeed! You made some great choices and will be very happy. In fact, I hate you back for giving me another case of room envy!

ENJOY!

I completely know what you mean. Although I have not quite spent that much, since I've been a member (one month) I've managed to spend close to 3K. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for RC-30's and RC mini center to come tomorrow and I just ordered a DVD burner. When will it end!!!

I don't how to break it to you, but, here goes. Never. You will never stop spending money on this hobby. It changes so fast that as soon as you are happy with your gear, something new and fantastic comes out. You can also only like your speakers for a limited time because there is always something better.

It doesn't sound like you got the audio/videophile rule book yet. It will all be explained in there.

Congrats Dave! You won't have to worry about "what if's" now. This is a great start but as others have said it ain't over yet.

Start researching room treatments if you haven't already.

Thanks guys, and I am just glad I came here to ask advise.

@uniquetreatone, that is what I thought, do it right from the start , instead of buying speakers and having to upgrade untill I found the right ones.

Chris, there are no what if's here, I have my mind completely made up, but I was curious as to why ickysmits would say that? (unless it was a joke).

Oh, sorry, I was completely joking and playing on that bit that always makes one second guess no matter how good the decision was – I put a smiley face at the end hoping you wouldn’t get the wrong message. I guess I was in that mood because I just bought a new car and now I see other choices I didn’t try.

Congrats on such a great system! As said above, there should be no “what if”.

I figured it was a joke, but the smiley through me off, now if you had of used this I would have got the joke immediately. Never mind though, it turned out to be a good joke anyway!
