I just had the pleasure of actually having the chance to listen to the Paradigm Monitor 9's and all I have to say these speakers sound sooooooooo
absolutely fabulous. I like to consider myself a Movieaudiophile who has never had the chance to audition high-end gear but what my ears heard gave my senses a eargasm.
I understand that not all power, amps, and recievers are created equal and neither are speakers but these are hot.
I'm actually looking to purchase the Monitor 11 v.6 but by the time I actually have the money, they'll probably have v.15. I'm just your everyday working guy who don't mind sacrificing to save to buy an investment like this.
I was looking at Def-Techs 1st, but I have to say I like the sound of the Paradigm's more. That is not a knock to Def-tech's but when I auditioned those(bp2006's), The only played Casino Royale and it sound good but not music was played. The Paradigm's played music but no movies(go figure), but I believe after hearing them play music, they should have no problems playing movies. Am I wrong and for those of you that have the Monitor's, how has your experience been with them as far as movie's and music?
I can let you know right now that I will be using these more for movies than music(70/30).
What receivers(s) and amps(if any) are you using???

I'm in the same situation as you in that I'm more of a video guy than an audio guy. Since I used to own Paradigms years ago I'm looking at the possibility of setting up a proper 5.1 system (at least for the 5.0 part) with Paradigms.

However rather than looking at the Monitor series I'm thinking about the new SE series (it'd be nice to afford the studio series so that would have to wait). The SE's are supposed to nicely fill the gap between monitor and studio at an affordable level. I haven't yet checked my local dealer but someone in the Paradigm owners thread said they should have started showing up.

I ran the Monitor series for quite some time and when I was considering upgrading to the Studios I actually ended up with the Axiom M60s.They are very similar to the Studio 60s in sound (scary close actually) but can be had for Monitor 9 price. No knock towards Paradigm, I like them a lot but when I was looking to upgrade my fronts the Axioms were the better deal for similar performance.IMO.

I own some v3 monitors and I think there great for music and movies. I was wanting to get some for a long time but never knew there was a dealer near me. I found one and went and 2 weeks later I had monitor 3s v3 and cc-370. I am stil using some older speaker for surround but I plan to upgrade soon. I like this setup better than any I have owned so far which have included klipsch reference series
