are the DT450s expected to be reduced even more than $279.? either on black Friday or after Christmas?

over the last couple of weeks I've observed this price flucuate from $350. - the lowest of $279.

as far as buying used isn't there the possibility the speaker was abused or not broken in correctly?

how are you liking the DT450s?

what amp are you powering them w/ ?

I recently purchased the DT SM350s replacing the Polk M30s I thought I was upgrading however they sound only a Tad better than the M30s I was hopping for a major diffacne. probabley should have gotton the SM450s.

Very nice speaker....I have them power by a crappy Pyle pro amp as part of a 2.0 system. They put out good bass, and can really get loud....did a A/B comparison with the Polk M40s they replaced and they were better at low, mid and high range and could get louder!

I'm in the same boat. I noticed Amazon has a combo deal going, not really Black Friday specific. "With the Purchase of Two Definitive Technology Bipolar Towers, Get One Free Center-Channel Speaker and Two Free Bipolar Surround Speakers"

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_365943402_3?ie=UTF8&docId=1000842931&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=02MXE8H9F47N2SDYEG7N&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1409787822&pf_rd_i=B00422L3BM

Seems like a good deal, the towers are listed everywhere for MSRP. The System is listed at $2595 on def tech site. I'm leaning towards it as I really like enveloping sound (80% movies and games) and right now my 5.1 system is struggling.

I'm still debating between the 8040's that would match the other pieces but only have 3.5" drivers or the 8060's that have 4.5" drivers but wouldn't match the 3 other pieces.

EDIT: nm, looks like you can also get the 8060 Center and 8080 rears for free with 2 8060 Towers. Now do I want to spend $1500 or $2000 haha.

Everyone has a different idea as to the best time to buy a pair of speakers. I just happen to believe that now is not the time. The best time...after you've done your homework and researched what you want to buy. Know when the new models are coming out. When they do, it's pretty much guaranteed they'll start having deals on the old or discontinued models.

Here and there but don't expect anything to start popping until after the Consumer Electronics Show in January. That's when the 2013 models make their debut. Afterwards, you'll see discounts on the 2012 models.
