I have the 8330 jbls and they sound great to me. I don't have room for actual pro fronts, but I get great sound using the 8330's for this purpose. I am looking at trying out the 8340a's as a possible successor to the 8330's as I am thinking that the 8340a's use of a horn tweeter would better recreate the sound of a cinema auditorium, but I have nothing against the 8330's at all.

I am curious how the old 8330 mdf speakers compare with the 8330a's molded plastic enclosure. Do you know if it is sufficiently damped?

I wasn't a huge fan of the 8340a (a little harsh) but many like it as a surround...but having the 3677s and hearing how long the CD takes to break in....it's very possible I didn't give them enough time to break in although I did put about 80 hrs or more on them.

Old thread I know.... so... cdy- you did end up with the 3677s? I see you're name around but right now I can't recall what you're currently using.

What's the advantage of 4722N over the 3622N other than higher power handling? Is there any audible sonic difference?
If these were to be installed in a typical room, I doubt the extra power capacity is required.

The 4722 has a larger CD, upgraded woofers, and a lower crossover point

Lot's of discussions about 8340A. I have a question:
My living room is 15'x25'x9'. Screen to seat distance is 11'. That means my setup is on the front half of the room. I only have a single row of seating.
Will 2 units of 8340A (as in 5.1 setup) be sufficient for my space? Or do I need to use 4 units (as in 7.1 setup)?
