I just purchased an Energy Take 5 Classic 5.0 and Onkyo HT-RC160 (80 watts per channel). I need a subwoofer.

I can get the Polk PSW110 (100 watts continuous) for $124.

I don't want to spend more than $150 for a sub and I had been looking at the POlk PSW10 (50 watts continuous) before I saw this deal.

It seems to me that this is a great deal and I should pull the trigger.

Is the Dayton sb-120 ht at $155 really worth the extra $30.

Any reason not to buy this one for my system? Any other better optinos in this price range?

Thanks.

I would go with this.
http://www.thespeakercompany.com/T10...r-P157C17.aspx

I dont have this one, but I have the ASW-10 from TSC, its not for sale anymore but it sounds great and from what I have read the one I linked is even better.

I've read too many bad things about polk subs to recommend one:

Polk SL2000WC $3 DIY mod. Smaller the uf, the less harsh your SL2000 is.
1. SRS: .47 uf/250v mylar cap top SL2000, 1.0 2nd, 1.0 3rd, .47 bottom
2. 2.3: 1.0 middle
3. 1C: 1.0 top
4. 2B: 1.0

I second the T100. I am also an owner of an ASW-10, and an owner of a Bic H100 and a MFW-15 (and past owner of a HSU STF-2) and the ASW-10 was great for its size and price. The T100 should be using the same driver and woofer, just in a different cabinet.

I got one of the PSW110s at Best Buy on a whim for the $125 and I am honestly not impressed. I didn't really think I would be. It is, however, better than nothing if that is a real spending hard limit for you. I may end up taking it back and getting something else. I may only keep it because it does work well enough in the apartment and shouldn't get me in trouble with the neighbors. Then when we move I can buy the A2-300 I want or an SVS 12, and give this one to my father, who has no sub atm and he would love it.

The only reason I tried it is because I like Polk speakers, and thought it would be cool to match, even if for only 6 months. That and the Fiancée says the ones I want are too big for the apartment.

I also purchased a PSW125 for my Home Theater and will be moving it into my bedroom setup as I absolutely hate it. It really doesnt add enough umpf for me in any of the movies. I will be purchasing a SVS PC12+ to replace it (but any SVS sub would kill the Polk).

I got one of the PSW110s at Best Buy also and it sucked. In fact I think it was defective! I would"nt buy it... based on some reviews I thought it was going to be an upgrade. I ended up buying an Ultracube12 new... Ohh man does it kick butt. Save your money and look into other options

Get the TSC T100 for $159 shipped, hey it even matches the glossy Energy speakers.

Polk subs aren't very good. Stay away.

The Dayton 10" sub I have isn't very musical, I'd take a chance on the TSC sub, plus you've got 30 days to return it with free shipping.

I have been thinking of ordering the TSC sub to try next to the Polk, I am pretty sure its going back either way. Them closing everything out and not restocking puts a bad taste in my mouth. I am the paranoid type though.

I'm in the same dilemma, looking for a sub for my Energys. The issue with the T100 is the max freq is 120hz, Energy Sats go only as low as 115hz and the center goes 110hz. You will only have 5/10hz in overlap, not ideal for blend according to what I've read. I would love to get this regardless but TSC just seems so sketchy with the order process, No clue whats in stock or if their warranty is worth a damn when they might be going OOB.

No issues with my PSW110. I picked it up at Best Buy last night for $36 bucks. I had a $100 gift card. This sub is better than what I had before....no sub. I think it sounds ok for $36 bucks

I picked this up on Black Friday for the 125.......Needing more things for my son's christmas I returned it. Sold some un-needed thigns and re-bought the Polk PSW110 for the 125 again this past weekend.

Sounds Excellent to me. And if vibrating my Dishes in my kitchen isn't enough UMPF in a 1900SqFT house. you guys must have 30000$ systems

With the rules.....whats the point in having a Signature?

While it does sound good I unfortunately must have a bigger/more accoustically screwed up room than you do. My polk simply cannot get enough upmf for my liking.

With that said the room is 17x18 and also opens into a 9x8 dining room all with 8 or 9 ft ceilings. I am going to put it in my bedroom which is 15x11 for my bedroom setup which doesnt require nearly as much power.

The SVS PC12+ I am getting should be more than enough for that room. To bad Santa wont be brining him for a couple more months

That's funny I have the exact same setup as you and on the same boat (found all these deals on slickdeals). I'm gonna try and get the ESW-8HG from Costco, and if that's not available I'll just get the PSW110. My max budget for a sub is $125 - something's better than nothing. Besides I live in a Condo so don't need anything too powerful. Also, all of the experts at BestBuy give the PSW110 very good reviews (sorry if I offended any of the avs experts)

Also have the Energy Takes and picked up the ESW8HG at C** for $100. Is the T100 noticibly better for the xtra $$, or is the matching Energy sub the better fit due to same brand.....
Don't have the sub hooked up yet. Can't make a final decision on this...

Most of us didn't recommend him a $30000 system. We recommended something that was a tad more, but offered a substantial improvement.
