.

So I see these RF-82s for $1000/pair online. Those IL-40s probably had an MSRP of $1200/pair back in 2006. My IL-60s MSRPed at close to $3k. Sure hope you like those new Klipsch better in the long run. Sorry to see you go.

It's nice to see others with the IL60 fronts and IL36C center!

I am also using the IL50s for the rears and the IL10s for the rear surrounds...

Dang, that is serious stuff. You must have a pretty large room to fit in all those towers. And based on my own experience the sound is most likely superb. Did you RABOS all of them?

Yup, gotta love the RABOS kit... lol

I also have been toying with using all of the towers at LARGE range speakers; and then using just the front towers as LARGE range speakers and using the rear towers as SMALL speakers but sending the sub sounds to the subs in the rear towers, etc...

For a long while I ran my IL-60s as SMALL, sending all the LF to my DefTech PF1500 corner sub. This due to lots of internet recommendations about cancellation, etc. Then I read where multiple subs can actually improve the overall sound. I suppose placement has a lot to do with the improvement, but... What to do. I even went so far as to parallel the Infinitys' built in subs with the DefTech on the subwoofer output. Didn't like that at all.

So now I run them LARGE. WTH. Pretty sure most cinema audio mixers don't put much bass in the LCR anyway. And when I put on that serious pipe organ music:

they dig deep.

And I do use the RABOS kit. It's not perfect, but combined with the BFD I use on the sub it makes for a relatively smooth low bass experience at the only important seating position.

You were using a pair of $3,000 speakers with built-in 12-inch, 500 watt, sub-woofers as a pair of SMALL speakers?

I know it sounds bizarre; but there were threads here, at HTForum, HTShack, S&V (back when they had an active forum), and elsewhere where "experts" including the likes of Tom Nousaine et al. postulated that no matter what the frequency range of one's main speakers they should ALWAYS be run as SMALL and all the bass below 80Hz should be directed to a single corner located subwoofer (all this assuming that said sub had better LF extension than the mains). All this because combing, cancellation, room modes, nulls, etc. would in effect make the extra bass from the mains inaudible, unnecessary, extraneous, counter-productive, or wasteful excess.

So I bit. For Home Theater only. And not for very long. It takes some time to correctly dial them in to a HT setup that includes a separate sub. I assume you've seen this remarkable frequency response graph of the IL-60s? At the time probably the flattest of any speaker available

Read through this post didn't see anyone was running the Reference rs from the early 90s :o thought I would show some love for them and post mine.

Got them from a friend for free a little while back, they all had bad foam surrounds, just replaced them and good as new.  I love these speakers :)

In case anyone is interested I have an entire 7."4" Infinity Interlude system for sale.

Two fronts - IL60
Two rears - IL50
Center IL36C
Two rear surrounds - IL10

The Infinity RABOS kit is also included.

All of the speakers are in absolute MINT condition - better than "mint" if there is such a thing.

There is not one scratch or mark on them anywhere.

They were all gone through and completely updated and checked out by an Authorized Infinity service center (high end retailer) a few years ago and the amplifier sections were upgraded to the new Infinity specs.

They also have matching black onyx stands instead of the original silver.

They also come with both the Infinity matching black speaker grills and the Infinity matching burgundy speaker grills - depending on your decor.

They are absolutely beautiful.

I wasn't aware of any upgrades available for the IL-60 amplifiers. Could you elaborate?

Oh, and somebody, anybody, everybody should jump on this system yesterday. They're not difficult to drive, but do require a well damped room to sound their best. Ruler flat response. Very serious bass. The 60s and 36c are in my house as well.

What's your asking price?

What color are they, the black or natural wood?

I will entertain any reasonable offer - note the word reasonable, lol.

I just moved to a smaller condo - and it's killing me, almost literally, to have to let these speakers go.

They are the Interludes in the black onyx color.

A range? By the time I (or someone else) starts searching for other examples for sale, a better option might be found.

FWIW, I moderate some for-sale forums where a price is mandatory with any listing.

$2,500 - or best offer for the entire set-up?

Again they are better than "mint" condition - and look brand new.

They are actually "better" than brand new - as they have been professionally went through and updated so the original under-rated resistors/power supplies/boards in the BASH amplifiers have been fixed to the Infinity new specs.

They also include the matching black speaker covers, and the matching burgundy speaker covers - to switch it up - or to match your decor.

Also includes the Infinity RABOS kit.

Wow, I hate to see these go...

I picked up some RS5's several months ago off Craigslist. I had been looking for some floor standing speakers for my office but didn't want to spend more than $200. At the time I was looking at a set of Pioneer SP-FS52's and Onkyo SKF-4800. I have always bought my gear second hand and had looked at some Polks a guy had for sale but they just did not speak to me. Then a set of RS5's popped up on CL. They were mint, got the original instruction book, and I think I paid $130 for them. My H/K AVR-325 and Velodyn CT8 sub compliment them nicely. I continue to enjoy them to this day!

I am rocking Alpha 50s, 37c and some infinity primus surrounds. They sound awesome to me. I wanted to use alpha 20s for my surrounds but I guess the primus 160s are close enough. It seems like it's time to upgrade but then I listen to them and change my mind.

Does anyone know where I can get my Overture 2 amps repaired at for a reasonable price? There are a few on eBay but they want 140 per amp to repair. My 2's were zapped in a lightning strike. I have replaced with Def Tech 8040ST's, but still wouldn't mind getting them fixed if I can find someone that is reasonable.
