I am trying decide which way to go.

option 1
Energy Take 5 (original version made in Canada) used but in good condition. About 10 years old.

option 2
Energy Take 5 classic. (new version made in China) brand new in box.

I can get either for about the same price. I have heard and red the new version is not as good as the original ones and visa versa. I am slightly concerned of buying speakers that are 10 years old. (is this a valid concern?)

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

do the new ones have a warranty? case closed!

who said the originals are better? chances are they are close enough in performance that other factors (e.g. warranty!) should be the primary concern.

I have the old ones and they supposedly play deeper. But if you can get new Take Classics with a 5 year warranty you should jump on that.

Thanks guys.

The new set is from a private party so I am not sure if there would be any warranty since I am not the original buyer. I do know Energy does not make the Take Classic anymore. (at least they are not on the Energy website)
