my room is 12x12 and i am going to be using the speakers for tv,music, movies, games in that order of importance. i was looking to get a htib, but i have sided against that. i my budget is around 400 including reciver. i know that it is hard to do 5.1 for that budget so i am looking to spend 400 for reciever, sub, and main speakers in the front. since i have some speakers i could use in the meanwhile for the rear. what systems do you guys suggest?
one person has suggested so far the jamo s413. any other sugestions. thank you for ur input in advance.

With your extremely limited budget the the Jamo S413 with either the Pioneer VSX-520, or Sony STR-DH510

$400 is just enough for most budget entry 5.1 speaker sets and you want a reciever as well

i understand that 400 is barely going to get me a 5.1 system, what system do u recomend for a 2.1 and a reciever with that price that has the option later on for me to upgrade?

Unless you look at HTIB, you're probably going to have increase your budget to $500, leaving room to upgrade.

Still tough to do, but taking a quick look at a $500 budget for a 2.1, all new stuff, buying right now, all from eBay:

Receiver 5.1 with HDMI, some with Auto EQs, ~$175 shipped

Onkyo TRSR307
Sherwood RD6513
Yamaha RXV365
SONY STR DH500

Speakers, Bookshelf, pair

Infinity Primus P152 $160 shipped

Subwoofer

BIC AMERICA V1020 10 ~$175 shipped (not familiar with BIC subwoofers but they seem to be recommended often)

If you look at strictly used, don't need HDMI, you can do better.

Here is a good deal on pair of speakers I ran across:
