I just purchased a new 63" 3D Samsung (PN63C8000) and am in the market for a receiver and 5.1 package.

I really like the new Pioneer Elite SC-37 and was thinking of pairing it up with either:

the Paradigm SE series (SE3 towers in the front, and SE1 bookshelves as surrounds)

or

Definitive Technology's Mythos line (Mythos 1 or ST in the front with Gem XLs as surrounds, Mythos 9 as the center channel, and a Super Cube II sub)

With the Mythos discount I will receive, both 5.1 setups will come out to around $3,500. Does anyone have any experience with either setup? The Paradigm SE line is more new and that is enticing me. I am open to other alternatives in that price range as well.

Also, I am thinking of waiting for Pioneer to release its line of 3D Blu-Ray players, but does anyone have any recommendations if I want to buy one sooner? I hear good things about Oppo players, but I like the PQLS feature on Pioneer compatible units...

Thanks!!

I think the Definitive are a bit nicer. Had a friend with that Paradigm setup, and I didn't think it was where it should be for the price point....but that's just my ears (and wallet) talking.

As a dealer for Paradigm, I will throw my had in and vote for them. The SE line is overlooked now that there is a studio 10 and cc490 in the studio line for "slightly" more. The SE line gets you very close to studio sound, with monitor looks as a better finish.

A better apples to apples would be the Paradigm Millenia line vs. the Mythos. Even still, I like the Millenia line in terms of visual appearance and sound quality. I think overall, you get a better product from Paradigm at the same price, but I can say that the Mythos line from Def Tech is a good product as well.

Thanks for the input guys.

I ended up going with Mythos ST front, Mythos 10 center, and Gem XL as rears.

Got a deal too good to pass up Getting it all hooked up and Eq'd tomorrow, can't wait!!!
