Hi all, im seriously considering buying the Onkyo TX-SR508 and would like to initially get a pair of speakers and a sub woofer to go with it. I will later upgrade to 5.1 or even 7.1 but for now just the sub and front stereo will do for music and games. The main music style will be heavy metal (if that makes a difference) and have £500 to spend on them (not inc amp). Ive had a little look about but there is so much options with amp and speaker clarity and warmth etc and the combinations between them all! Can i get a few suggestions to start please?

Thanks all.

Onkyo and Paradigm are an excellent match. Give them a listen to.

Looks like it does not have pre-outs (except for sub) - so in future if you looking for adding a separate amp or a new speaker with 4 ohm dips , you may be out of luck.

Ok thanks pronghorn, ill check them out
Jaymalya, this is just my first step into some proper HT equipment so im just needing a kinda basic setup atm. If i need a new amp in future ill just outright buy a new one. Also, i have no idea what your speaking about with the 4ohm dips!

I was looking at some B&W 685's online and they seem to get some good writeups for speakers under the £500 mark. Anyone had experience with them?

Hey again all. I just wanted to give you an update. After auditioning some speakers at a local(ish) store I ended up going for Dynaudio DM 2/6's. I think they sound awesome. Thanks again for everyone's help

The Audyssey 2EQ doesn't do anything to adjust the subwoofer levels. You need Audyssey MultiEQ to get processing of the subwoofer.

Budget Denons have MultiEQ you need a onkyo tx-sr-70x to get that processor
