Hi there,

I have been looking for online deals on the Monitor Audio Silver RX1's and the Cambridge Audio Azur 550A int. amp.
I found this website called 'elistinka.com. They carry the RX1's for $780, but its on sale for $550. The CA 550A is also on sale for $500.

That seems like a ridiculous deal, almost too good to be true? I called their info number and spoke with a sales rep. Whats weird is that if I want the RX1's in the black gloss veneer, it raises the price to around $1000, as opposed to the Black Oak Veneer for $780. The sales rep seemed knowledgeable enough, and the site looks ok. There isn't much mention of them on google though, so I'm turning to you guys to help me out.

http://www.elistinka.com/monitoraudio-rx1.html

Thanks!

I'm no expert at domain registeries, but the website was registered by an Austrailian "front" company, Melbourne IT, which hides the real identification of the site owners. Not a good sign for a company to send money to in hopes of receiving real product from.

They are definately not authorized resellers for most of the companies they list as product manufacturers. Buyer beware !

I'm wondering the same thing myself.....looking at a Denon and Boston Acoustics home theatre package....it's $100 less than most places.

The site says they are security equipment specialists....something doesn't feel right...

Cheers

Ya, I called back and talked to their sales people. Something is definitely up, I won't be ordering from them and I advise you all to do the same

Some places sell products like this at a low cost. But beware you could be getting a returned product, or a refurbished product. Also, I highly doubt they are authorized Monitor Audio dealers, which means no manufacturer warranty. In other words...Do not buy.

Something smells about that company. Maybe that's why they call themselves eliSTINKa.com.

Why not call Monitor and ask them their opinion? They would know best.

EDIT: UPDATED 12/17/2010

I bought from them. I can't recommend them, they only have a 5 day return policy and I really don't have any confidence in their customer support. Its also one of those sellers that has multiple websites advertising the same goods at basically the same prices.

I ordered 5 Gallo speakers. It took them a week to send out the first 3 speakers. Apparently they didn't have them all in stock. The first three speakers looked perfect and worked perfectly.
They sent out the last two speakers a week later. The last two speakers had some scratches and nicks on them. These speakers had stainless steel enclosures which cost extra so this was disappointing. I believe these speakers were used display models because of the scratches and nicks. The serial numbers for the last 2 speakers where also in the 40,000's while the first three where in the 80,000's, maybe an indication of their age. I contacted the seller who has yet to respond after a week. I also had some stands on order which I cancelled since it would take weeks to ship out.

Basically you can save a lot of money from buy from them, but at the risk of having to deal with a shady retailer. If your going to take the risk make sure you use a good credit card with good buyer protection.

Also you can find the seller on ebay under elistinkaNY

i got burned by them. i bought a cambridge item and it took them 42 days to ship and the unit was defective. i contacted cambridge and elistinka is listed on their US site audio plus services as an unauthorized dealer and warns not to purchase from them. i don't understand why they aren't listed on the actual cambridge site but whatever.

so no warranty, no return, i'm stuck with a defective unit. i think they waited until just before the 45 day mark to get it to me because at that point paypal won't help me.

lesson learned. anyone have any advice on how to at least warn others? or better yet get me a working unit?

People willing to take a big risk to save money.

This is why the white van speaker scam stays in business.

I hadn't read this thread until after I got burned, even the serial on the back is strange. according to cambridge the serial indicates the item was built on the 14th month of 2015.

I'm going to try reporting them, they have a NY address, I should get a real address out of them as they had talked about me sending the amp back for them to examine.

can anyone get a physical address for this company so i can take more action against them? i already have yahoo e-commerce investigating them, did the ripoff-report, but i want to get the bbb involved and i have unlimited legal resources (family full of lawyers licensed in NY).

i don't care so much about the $$ i lost but more principle and don't want this to happen to anyone else.

since the serial indicates the unit was built on the 15th month of the year 2020 this has to be fraud and i can fight these guys. i just need help getting an address.

I'm just curious to see how this turns out. I know lawyers have the best resources when it comes to investigations. Why don't you ask your family members?

There was a recent discussion about www.elistinka.com in the Monitor Audio forum a few weeks back. Somebody did some digging and found that they were linked to several shady online stores located in the NY area. The scary thing is that it appears they're selling stuff on eBay under the name "elistinkany" and have over 99% positive feedback.

I am glad I decided to check with the forum... I was looking for the Monitor RX-8s and ended up on the these guys' eBay store front. I had no reference in pricing, so I was not even aware of any potential savings. I did check the Monitor us website and they are black listed, so they wont be making any money from me. Got to love NY scam artists, they are on separate class altogether.
I now have an appointment with an official local reseller.
I am also interested in knowing the resolution of your dispute with el stink a

I wish I had more time to enjoy my gear

i decided it wasn't even worth the time and effort, it was only a $150 that i sent to an authorized repair center to get fixed for $25 which puts it at retail. i reported them to every online site i could find and the bbb, i even talked to yahoo on the phone and they are investigating since the site uses yahoo checkout. they'll get what they deserve.

funny thing is that the serial number on the amp is bogus but the parts inside aren't
