OK all - looking for new PC Speakers - this will (if I ask for them as a gift) be the last set of PC speakers for a long time (if not ever). That's primarily because of the price.

Speakers are 99% for music - some very casual gaming - nothing that I need any special speakers for. Don't really need speakers for video either.

Really eclectic music taste from Classical to Electronic to TSO to Soundtracks. Pretty much anything except rap, hip-hop, and country (Eagles, etc - I love). Listen to a lot of Napster, Slacker, Pandora on the PC.

I have Cambridge Soundworks MicroWorks II Amplified Multimedia Speaker System. They are OK - but - at this stage, I want BETTER. The back of my mind keeps thinking BOSE - but then I think "Smoke and Mirrors". So - are the MM-1's the best, or what? If they are, what would be the next step down?

Thanks!

MM-1's sound great but I'd suggest saving a little $$$ and take a look at Audioengine's excellent A2 or A5 speakers. You can demo either one for 30-days.

I agree with richmack, if you want to save money, i'd go for the a5's from audioengine. They are $150 less

I think the bass response of the A5's will better match the MM-1 if that matters to you.

You're killing me. Lol. I guess I have to decide if I want the A5's bass, or the A2's portibility (a nice plus I really hadn't even considered until I read that 1 really detailed review.

I really hadn't thought about it - until I read on of the reviews, so - probably not. Now - the main issue is going to be space - the speakers I have (I think) are like 4"x4"x? - these - at 7" will be a push. I guess - if I want the sound - then - I'll have to figure that out.
